LONG BEACH, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Windes, a leading California accounting and advisory firm, announced today that James Cordova has been elected by his fellow partners as the firm’s managing partner. Cordova succeeds John Di Carlo. who will remain active in the firm by serving on its board of directors, as well as continuing to serve clients and lead special projects. “As with my predecessors who have approached the firm’s mandatory retirement age, we have planned this change of leadership for the past two years,” says Di Carlo. “It has been an honor and a privilege to serve as the firm’s managing partner. I am pleased that I will be continuing my professional relationships with clients, colleagues, and friends of the firm. Cordova becomes the firm’s eighth managing partner since its founding in 1926, exemplifying the firm’s history of successful managing partner changes from one generation to the next.

Cordova joined Windes in 1991. He has been chairman of the Tax & Accounting Services department since 2008, and has been instrumental in the firm’s process improvement initiative and strategic growth. Cordova specializes in the analysis and selection of business entities, tax factors and implications related to business dissolutions, mergers and acquisitions consulting, and tax strategies involving real property transactions. His practice includes clients in manufacturing, real estate, wholesale fuel, logistics, and high-tech sectors, as well as high-net-worth individuals and family offices.
Cordova graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in business administration from California State University, Long Beach and a Master of Science in taxation from Golden Gate University. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the California Society of Certified Public Accountants. Cordova has served on the firm’s board of directors for the past 12 years and also on its Corporate Governance Committee. He is a former executive committee and board member of the Memorial Medical Center Foundation.
