PMI and Latin American Council of Management Schools Join Forces to Elevate the Project Management Profession for College Students

The year-long agreement will help introduce Latin American students and educational institutions to the passionate project management community

PHILADELPHIA--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Project Management Institute (PMI), the world's leading association for the project management profession, has partnered with the Latin American Council of Management Schools (CLADEA) to introduce business school students and next generation project managers to the project management profession. Project management is at the center of change, making it especially important during great times of disruption to educate the world’s future leaders on the importance of project management.

During the year-long agreement, PMI will collaborate with CLADEA and its 142 Latin American member institutions to create and share content focusing on project management research and best practices for teaching project management — all in Spanish and Portuguese. Additionally, executives from both PMI and CLADEA will participate in virtual and live events to help spread awareness for the profession and its importance.

“Whether they’re 5 years-old or 75 years-old, everyone completes projects and can benefit from project management skills,” said Ricardo Triana, PMI Managing Director, Latin America. “Strategically partnering with CLADEA helps us engage with students across Latin America interested in project management while they’re earning their degree. It also gives PMI and CLADEA the opportunity to help educational institutions understand the important role project management will play in the new work ecosystem and learn what resources are needed to teach project management in the Latin America region.”

As part of the agreement, PMI will extend CLADEA member institutions two benefits:

  • A discounted PMI Student Bundle, which gives students the opportunity to earn their Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM)® certification and to power their career with a PMI membership
  • A waived Letter of Intent fee for institutions interested in applying for accreditation through the PMI Global Accreditation Center for Project Management Education Programs (GAC)

“The new professionals that Latin America will receive from academic institutions will face important challenges as a consequence of the impact caused by the global pandemic. This new normality in which they will receive the economy will show them important challenges, either as entrepreneurs or as workers in multiple industries. We consider it will be beneficial for students to have project management skills for their lives that will allow them to move with agility and security in the face of new projects that the economy will need to recover,” said Manuel Ortiz de Zevallos, Executive Director of CLADEA. “Partnering with PMI, the leading association in this industry will allow us to jointly promote research and education in project management in our societies, as well as help us strengthen educational capacity in our member institutions from Latin America.”
