KB Home and Jared Allen’s Homes for Wounded Warriors Celebrate Key Ceremony for Deserving U.S. Air Force Veteran Family

SAN ANTONIO--()--KB Home (NYSE: KBH) and Jared Allen’s Homes for Wounded Warriors are hosting a key ceremony to celebrate the completion of the personalized, mortgage-free new home they built for the Hines family. Master Sergeants Daniel “Reese” and Kyle Hines, veterans of the United States Air Force who sustained combat-related injuries in Afghanistan and Iraq, respectively, are receiving the keys to their new home, designed to accommodate the current and future needs of the family.

“This is a milestone event for KB Home, and the team is extremely proud of our partnership with Jared Allen’s Homes for Wounded Warriors,” said Jeffrey Mezger, Chairman, President and CEO of KB Home. “We are privileged to have had the opportunity to contribute our resources and expertise to present this brand-new home to the Hines family, and while we can’t change what happened to them in Afghanistan or Iraq, we can provide their family with a new home personalized to their needs.”

KB Home built a single-story home with accessibility features that adapt to the lifestyle needs of the Hines family and their three service dogs. These features include wider interior and exterior entries, level or zero-edge thresholds, a roll-in master bath shower and adjusted-height light switches and electrical outlets. The 2,300-square-foot, three-bedroom, two-bath home is located at Mirabel, a KB Home community in Boerne, Texas, approximately 15 miles northwest of San Antonio. The Hines family worked directly with the KB Home Design Studio team to choose features and fixtures to personalize their new home.

“This is such an important day for our family, and we are so grateful to KB Home and Jared Allen’s Homes for Wounded Warriors for gifting us this beautiful home in San Antonio," said Reese Hines. “It’s been incredible to watch the home being built from the ground up, work closely with designers to add our personal touch and know we have the accessibility features that meet our needs. Our service dogs, Baxter, Wilbur and Huey, even have their own dedicated space. It’s truly been an amazing experience, and we are thrilled to be moving into our forever home.”

“Seeing our deserving veterans receive the keys to their completed homes is always a wonderful event, and we are so happy for the Hines family,” said Jared Allen. “This is our organization’s first collaboration with KB Home, and it’s been a terrific success. Jared Allen’s Homes for Wounded Warriors is proud to partner with a company that values our veterans and committed to making a real difference in the lives of those who served.”

KB Home is hosting an on-site event, Friday, February 21, with the ceremony and festivities beginning at 10 a.m. in front of the family’s new home in Boerne. Family and close friends of the Hines family, along with KB Home veteran employees and local elected officials, will be in attendance to celebrate this special occasion.

ABOUT THE HINES FAMILY

Reese and Kyle Hines are both retired from active duty in the U.S. Air Force after sustaining extensive injuries in dangerous overseas combat zones. They met through an Air Force Wounded Warrior–sponsored softball league and instantly connected over their shared love of baseball. They married in 2018 and are moving from Alaska to their new accessible home in the San Antonio area. Both Kyle and Reese continue to participate in Wounded Warrior events, and both earned coveted spots to compete in the 2017 Invictus Games.
