United States Investing Championship 2020 First Month Results

LOS ANGELES--(BUSINESS WIRE)--The United States Investing Championship today reported the results for the first month of the 2020 competition. The United States Investing Championship is a real money competition which gives up and coming traders an opportunity to show their talent on the world stage. Prior top performers include legendary traders such as Paul Tudor Jones and Louis Bacon. Participants specify an account number at the beginning of the year. Brokerage statements associated with that account are used to verify performance claims. The competition began in 1983 and ran for fifteen years. It was restarted in 2019.

In the current competition at the end of January, the leader in the stock division is Tomas Claro, + 34%. Mr. Claro was born in Chile. After graduating from college, he traded for several Chilean Institutions, and then moved to Chicago where he is finishing up an MBA at the University of Chicago. In second place, from the Philippines, is Javi Medina, + 32.5%. In addition to his obvious trading abilities, Javi played poker semi-professionally and competed successfully in the Asian Poker Tour. In third, + 22.4%, is Anish Sikri, a full-time trader from Washington, D.C. In fourth, + 21.3%, is Matthew Caruso, from Montreal, Canada. Mr. Caruso is a Chartered Market Technician and Certified Financial Analyst who was President of the Canadian Society of Technical Analysts between 2009 and 2011. In fifth place, + 15.8%, is Evan Buenger of Buenger Capital. Mr. Buenger lives in St. Louis, Missouri.

In the Enhanced Growth division, which allows futures and long option trading, the leader after one month is Adrian Palmer, + 29%. Dr. Palmer, who lives in Fairbanks Alaska, is a Dentist with the United States Public Health Service. In second place, + 13.8%, is Minh Le, from Clinton Township, Michigan.

The United States Investing Championship also has a division for $1,000,000+ accounts. Leading that division in stocks, + 2.0%, is George Tkaczuk, from Chicago, Illinois. Leading that division in Enhanced Growth, + 2.5%, is Hsui-Ping Peng. Mr. Peng is an engineer who was born in Taiwan and moved to the United States in 2002.

Over the years, the United States Investing Championship has attracted legendary traders, including Paul Tudor Jones, Louis Bacon, Dr. Edward O. Thorpe, Mark Strome, Mark Minervini, David Ryan, Doug Kass, Sheen Kassouf, Marty Schwartz, Frankie Joe, Tom Basso, Cedd Moses, Gil Blake, Robert Prechter, Jr., and Bruno Combier.
