PagerDuty Expands Leadership Bench, Appointing Former Pivotal Executive Joe Militello as Chief People Officer

SAN FRANCISCO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--PagerDuty, Inc. (NYSE:PD), a global leader in digital operations management, today announced Joe Militello as PagerDuty’s new Chief People Officer (CPO). Militello will bring invaluable experience to the PagerDuty executive leadership team, having most recently held the position of CPO at Pivotal. Militello will report directly to CEO, Jennifer Tejada.

“Joe is an outstanding HR leader who has scaled businesses and developed culture across fast-growing organizations with an intent focus on inclusion, diversity and equity,” said Jennifer Tejada, PagerDuty CEO. “His experience will be instrumental in helping us further develop our inclusive culture globally, hire more talented people, increase employee engagement and continue to put our people first.”

During his six year tenure at Pivotal, Militello led the worldwide People organization while the company grew to over 3,000 people and went through a 2018 initial public offering. He also advised Pivotal’s customers on how to transform their company culture to build great software for a digital world. Prior to joining Pivotal, he served as Vice President, Human Resources of the Greenplum Division at EMC Corporation, where he led HR strategy and programs, and oversaw HR through a series of acquisitions. Before Greenplum, Joe held various leadership roles in M&A, Recruiting and HR Operations.

“I was drawn to PagerDuty because of the company’s values and progressive culture. Diversity and inclusion have been part of the company’s DNA from the start and its people-first mindset is much further along than any company of its size that I’ve seen,” said Militello. “PagerDuty has also been recognized as a great place to work and the executive team is fully committed and passionate about designing a people-first employee experience, which is very exciting to me.”

Militello will lead the entire People organization, which includes HR business partners, talent development, recruiting, people operations, and diversity, inclusion and equity.
