MALIBU, Calif.--()--Green Gorilla, a leading manufacturer and brand of cannabidiol (CBD) products, received the highest possible score of “A” in a just-released independent study of CBD products from the nonprofit watchdog Center for Food Safety. Green Gorillawas one of only four companies to receive a grade of “A,” with more than half of companies evaluated receiving a failing grade.

“Because there is essentially no regulation of CBD products, the market is flooded with products that are substandard with misleading claims and labeling that does not accurately represent the product or its ingredients,” said Steven Saxton, founder and CEO of Green Gorilla. “Green Gorilla is one of a very small handful of CBD brands that is providing consumers with quality, efficacy and transparency.”

The Center for Food Safety surveyed and evaluated 40 companies that sell CBD products to compare product policies and practices in three categories: hemp farming and organic certification, processing and testing/auditing. The study also evaluated how many products are USDA Certified Organic or made with organic ingredients; which products use GMO ethanol/alcohol versus CO2 during processing; which companies test for the presence of pesticides, heavy metals such as lead, and microbiological contaminants; and which companies are clearly and openly conveying information about their production practices to consumers. Green Gorilla was one of four companies to receive a grade of “A.”

The Center for Food Safety is a national nonprofit public interest and environmental advocacy organization working to empower people, support farmers, and protect the earth from the harmful impacts of industrial agriculture. The organization informs and engages nearly 1 million members and the general public about food and personal care products so they can make fully informed decisions in the marketplace.
