CRANBURY, N.J.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--The American Journal of Managed Care® (AJMC®), the leading multimedia peer-reviewed journal dedicated to issues in managed care, with its Institute for Value-Based Medicine® will host a regional VB-Onc™ meeting that will provide an overview of the direction of oncology value-based care. The meeting will take place Thursday, Oct. 24, 5:30-8:45 p.m. at Hutton Hotel in Nashville, Tennessee, and will be co-chaired by medical experts from Tennessee Oncology: Stephen Schleicher, M.D., MBA, medical oncologist and Aaron Lyss, MBA, director of strategy and business development.
“We are excited to explore yet another facet of oncology care through our latest regional VB-Onc™ meeting in Nashville,” said Michael J. Hennessy Jr., president of MJH Life Sciences™, parent company of AJMC®. “Attendees of this education program will gain insight on the impending financial landscape of oncology through value-based care—more specifically, the future payment reform initiatives that will likely affect oncology. The intersection of clinical, operational and financial performance of value-based cancer care and the next generation of innovations in cancer care delivery will all be discussed.”
Presenters for the meeting include the following experts:
- Robert Daly, M.D., MBA, medical oncologist, Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center.
- Michael Kolodziej, M.D., vice president and chief innovation officer, ADVI Health.
- Miranda B. Lam, M.D., MBA, instructor in radiation oncology, Harvard Medical School and radiation oncologist, Dana Farber Cancer Institute / Brigham and Women’s Hospital.
- Kavita Patel, M.D., MS, vice president of provider and payer transformation, Johns Hopkins Health System, and nonresident fellow, Brookings Institution.
“As the transition from fee-for-service to value-based medicine continues, it’s important to understand how alternative payment models can impact decision making in oncology,” Schleicher added. “This conference offers an important opportunity to share research and discuss lessons learned in value-based arrangements. Whether in the Oncology Care Model or commercial value-based models, oncologists must lead through implementation, research and education to continue delivering on our goal of delivering high-quality care at reduced costs that enhances the patient experience.”
The Institute for Value-Based Medicine® offers informative regional series, such as VB-Onc™, which focuses on multistakeholder perspectives from oncologists, payers and practice executives. With a goal of discussing pressing topics—such as the implications of value-based medicine on clinical practice, best practices in implementing the Oncology Care Model, and the integration of oncology clinical and financial management perspectives with evolving value-based medicine—the program features leading experts from the field of managed care to enhance audience knowledge.
