Alabama Destinations Career Academy Kicks Off Enrollment Season

New Online School Now Accepting Enrollment Applications for the 2019-2020 School Year

CHICKASAW, Ala.--()--Students across the state are invited to explore career paths that work best for them at Alabama Destinations Career Academy (ALDCA), a program of the Chickasaw City School District, which is now accepting enrollment applications for the 2019-2020 school year.

Through ALDCA, students can pair a solid academic foundation with hands-on learning experiences in growing career fields including, but not limited to: information technology, health and human services, and manufacturing. Even if a student doesn’t know exactly what they want to do, career readiness programs help open a world of what’s possible.

Career readiness programs have positive benefits for students as well as employers. Across the state, “only 47 percent of the state’s workers are trained to the middle-skill level1 or for jobs that require education beyond high school but not a four-year college degree. Career readiness programs are designed to help bridge this gap.

“At ALDCA we’re preparing students with the education and experience they need to be competitive in the 21st century workforce,” said Michele Eller, Chickasaw City Schools’ Chief Academic Officer and Assistant Superintendent. “Whether it’s personalized lesson plans or providing hands-on work experience, we are committed to helping all students find their path to success.”

In addition to career readiness courses, ALDCA students have access to a robust online curriculum and attend live virtual classes taught by state-licensed teachers who help bring lessons to life. Students are offered a full course load in the core subjects of math, science, English language arts, history, art and music, as well as a host of electives. Teachers regularly communicate with students and their families via email, phone and during one-on-one meetings online.

ALDCA, an online public-school program, is available tuition-free to students who reside anywhere in the state of Alabama. The school will begin enrollment with kindergarten through ninth-grade students and is planning to add additional grades in subsequent school years.

Many families and students are choosing online school because it provides an alternative to traditional brick-and-mortar education. Athletes, advanced learners, and all types of students can balance a full academic load along with extracurricular pursuits or any other specialized needs.

Interested students and families are encouraged to attend online information sessions hosted by ALDCA. To learn more, visit aldca.k12.com or download the K12 enrollment app for iOS and Android devices.
