Open19 Foundation Announces Certification Program and Technology Updates at 2019 Summit

BEAVERTON, Ore.--()--The Open19 Foundation, an organization dedicated to creating a community for a new generation of open data centers and edge solutions, announced today at the Open19 Foundation Summit 2019 a new Open19 Certification program along with other Foundation and technology updates.

The Open19 Foundation is an active, independent community of 27 Corporate Members driving innovation and adoption of Open19 technology. This year’s Summit, taking place at Club Auto Sport in San Jose, CA, celebrates the acceleration of Open19 Adoption. The newly announced Certification Program represents a first-in-industry cross-supplier, chassis-level certification of interoperability for Open19 technology-based products.

“The Open19 Foundation is excited to bring the Open19 Community together for the 2019 Summit,” said Open19 Foundation President Yuval Bachar. “The Foundation is committed to enabling the open data center and edge ecosystem, and is focused on making Open19 the solution of choice within the industry. The announcement of the Open19 Certification Program will continue to advance our adoption build out and the ecosystem components’ interoperability.”

The Summit kicks off on Thursday, May 16, at 8:00 a.m. with registration and the opportunity to visit exhibitor booths. Presentations, beginning at 9:30 a.m., feature industry thought leaders, panel discussions, technology demonstrations, a rack-building competition, and more. The Summit concludes with an evening reception sponsored by Founding Member company Packet.

The 2019 Summit also includes:

  • Presentations from industry innovators, including Open19 Foundation President Yuval Bachar; Vapor IO CMO Matt Trifiro; Excelero Co-founder & CEO Lior Gal; Jason Rylands, VP of Data Center Strategy & International Sales at German Edge Cloud; and Arpit Joshipura, GM of Networking Edge & IOT at Linux Foundation.
  • Keynote speaker: Internet pioneer Paul Mockapetris, co-inventor of the Domain Name System (DNS), which paved the way for how we surf the Internet today.
  • Exhibition area featuring technology demonstrations from Open19 Foundation members along with a Fastest Installed Rack Competition.

With 2019 announced as the year for Open19 technology adoption and innovation, the Open19 Project Specifications are now available for download on the Open19 Foundation website. Full design and manufacturing packages are also available to members. The Open19 Foundation’s goal is to create an inclusive standard that can be adopted as needed by end users while member companies maintain ownership of their IP, allowing them to preserve their competitive edge.
