CHICAGO--()--The International Legal Technology Association (ILTA) announced today Joy Heath Rush will assume the position of Chief Executive Officer (CEO), effective immediately. Ms. Rush had served as the Interim CEO of the association since October 2018.

"When we brought Joy on as Interim CEO, it was with the hope that ILTA would become her new home. In her first four months, Joy has demonstrated the skills, leadership and spirit required to lead our dynamic organization," said Angela Dowd, ILTA Board President.

Ms. Rush has made a career of leveraging technology to support and advance the practice of law. After nearly three decades serving in a variety of technology roles at Global 20 firm Sidley Austin, she joined Litera Microsystems in 2014 as Vice President of Client Development. Her ILTA experience dates back to 1996 and includes serving on the Board of Directors and as Board President from 2007 to 2009.

"I could not possibly be more delighted,” said Ms. Rush. “When the Board offered me the position, I responded with an enthusiastic 'Yes!' I am privileged to be associated with ILTA and promise to serve the organization with professionalism, dedication and passion."

In October of 2018, Ms. Rush accepted the position of Interim CEO following a thorough search for an Interim CEO to replace the previous CEO, who had resigned in August. In recruiting for the role, the Board focused on collaboration, communication and relationship building.

The past four months provided two important opportunities for ILTA. First, the Board and ILTA community were able to observe Ms. Rush in the context of what would be required of the association's next CEO; and, second, Ms. Rush was able to determine whether the CEO role was the right fit for her personal and career goals.

The interim period also afforded Ms. Rush an opportunity to listen to all of ILTA’s constituents and, with the Board, volunteer leaders, business partners and professional staff, stabilize operations, reinvigorate relationships, and design programs to implement ILTA’s strategic goals.

“The Board is thrilled to continue charting ILTA’s path forward with Joy as our CEO,” noted Dowd. “With Joy’s leadership and contributions from our volunteer leaders, members, professional staff and business partners, ILTA’s future is brighter than ever.”
