SEATTLE--()--Chef, the leader in Continuous Automation, today announced the appointment of Brian Goldfarb to the position of chief marketing officer (CMO). Goldfarb deepens the DevOps pioneer’s executive bench as it emerges from a record-setting year to accelerate delivery of its continuous automation platform, giving global enterprises the ability to deliver software faster.

“Chef has always measured the value of its technology and the impact of its innovation by the degree to which they directly benefit its customers, partners and the open source community, a philosophy I strongly support,” said Goldfarb. “The company is uniquely positioned to help the rising tide of businesses build, manage and deploy applications better, faster and more securely, in ways that significantly save time and money. Without a doubt, enterprise automation and Chef’s unique approach to accelerating the software development lifecycle is more important than ever with hybrid cloud and container-based systems. Chef’s extremely successful 2018 is a testament to the value Chef provides, and I look forward to working closely with our community and customers to accelerate its delivery in the coming years.”

Goldfarb brings more than 20 years of executive experience with a strong track record of strategy development, business planning, digital marketing and product marketing to Chef. He most recently served as CMO at Splunk, where he drove and oversaw global marketing and helped drive revenue growth across Splunk’s product portfolio. He previously served as senior vice president of marketing for Salesforce’s Platform division, where he oversaw a global marketing organization responsible for generating more than $1 billion in revenue. He earlier served as CMO of Google Cloud Platform, where he managed global marketing teams across three regions, helped grow revenues by more than 400 percent and built the foundation for the business to grow to over $1 billion. Prior to Google, Goldfarb spent nearly 10 years at Microsoft, where he worked on a variety of products, including .NET, Visual Studio, Silverlight and product marketing for Microsoft Azure.

Goldfarb’s appointment comes on the heels of a record-setting 2018 for Chef – a year in which the company celebrated a number of critical milestones:

  • Best bookings quarter in the company’s history (Q4)
  • Revenue growth every year since founding in 2008
  • Four years of inclusion in the Deloitte Fast 500
  • More than half of the Fortune 500 using Chef

“Brian has an incredibly impressive history of proven expertise and success in leading worldwide marketing programs for some of the most innovative hyperscale cloud companies across the globe,” said Barry Crist, Chef CEO. “His passion and experience are a great complement to that of the others on the executive team as we continue to build positive momentum with a focus on extending our transformative automation platforms to drive the next phase of our rapid growth.”
