Seattle Added Twice the Number of Tech Jobs Than San Francisco but a Growing Shortage of Sales Talent May Limit Future Growth

Winning by Design acquires Science to Sales to support Seattle’s Tech Boom

MENLO PARK, Calif.--()--Winning by Design, the premier Software as a Service (SaaS) sales strategy consulting and coaching firm, has agreed to acquire Science to Sales to better serve Seattle based software companies. Winning by Design is headquartered in Silicon Valley, California, has eight offices around the globe, and three hundred customers including Adobe, Adroll, Outreach, and Zenefits. Science to Sales has been providing services to companies such as Host Compliance, Sentient Technologies, Linc Global. The acquisition signals the Pacific Northwest booming tech scene is drawing attention from around the globe.

Derek Sather, founder and managing director of Science to Sales and now managing director at Winning by Design, warns that if Seattle SaaS companies don’t invest in sales enablement, growth may be self-limiting: “In Silicon Valley, the shortage of tech salespeople is rivaling the shortage of programmers. With the high growth rates in Seattle tech, we might see similar shortages here soon. Sales is no longer a trade you acquire on the job over the course of fifteen years. Increasingly, tech companies are hiring recent graduates and are expecting them to do well in a very short period of time. Leading SaaS companies, such as Adobe Software and Zenefits, are investing in documenting their sales playbook and in in-house sales academies to bridge the gap (videos here and here).”
