Safety National Awards Safety First Grants for Creative Risk Control Solutions

ST. LOUIS--()--Safety National announced the winners of the Company’s annual Safety First Grant Program, awarding three policyholders for their creative risk control solutions.

The first-place grant, in the amount of $10,000, was awarded to City of Green Bay to outfit utility vehicles with electric valve operating equipment. This will help to alleviate strains and sprains from the tremendous stress that manual valve turning places on employees’ shoulders, arms and upper torso.

The second-place grant, in the amount of $5,000, was awarded to Public Employers Risk Management Association, Inc., to purchase wearable sensors that will provide data to re-engineer common job movements that cause injury.

The third-place grant, in the amount of $2,500, was awarded to Capital Region Educational Service District 113 Workers’ Compensation Trust to help eliminate the risk of manually lifting heavy school cafeteria tables by installing a table lifting assistance system.

“We applaud the winners for finding ways to create a safer, more productive work environment for their employees,” said Don Enke, Assistant Vice President – Risk Services at Safety National. “One of the criteria that we use to select our winners is repeatability, so we hope that other employers with similar risks can benefit from these solutions.”
