SEATTLE--()--Giving Tuesday is predicted to raise $330 million for charities around the world. The global day of giving encourages consumers to focus on helping others through the gifts of time, financial contributions or goods. With Giving Tuesday and the holiday gift season upon us, TisBest, a Seattle-based nonprofit, offers shoppers a fun twist on philanthropy – literally giving the gift of giving.

Founded in 2007, TisBest created an unusual gift card. It works like a conventional gift card with one meaningful exception: the recipient “spends” the card by choosing which charity to support with the funds. Recipients get to select from one of 1.5 million registered charities – all featured on the TisBest website.

“We like to think of TisBest as a philanthropy multiplier. The gift giver allows the gift recipient a chance to change the world in a way that’s personalized and important to them, thus furthering a social habit of philanthropy,” said Erik Marks, founder of TisBest. “We strive to empower people of all ages to support causes they are passionate about, especially younger generations.”

And younger generations are giving more than ever. Research shows that 84 percent of millennials give to charities annually and 64 percent of them won’t work for an employer that doesn’t demonstrate strong corporate responsibility. By providing this growing workforce with a meaningful, sustainable way of gift giving, TisBest has raised more than $16 million for charities across the country since 2007.

Charity gift cards are customizable and come in any amount between $10 and $5,000. Gift givers can choose to send a 100 percent recycled plastic card by mail, print a card at home or send an e-card directly to the gift recipient. Each card is tax deductible and 100 percent of the purchase goes to authorized, vetted charities.
