NTS Adds EMI/EMC Testing at Naval Shock Testing Facility

ANAHEIM, Calif.--()--National Technical Systems, Inc. (“NTS”), the leader in qualification testing, inspection, and certification solutions in North America, is pleased to announce the addition of electromagnetic interference (EMI) and interoperability testing to its Rustburg, Virginia naval research and test facility.

Located close to Newport News, VA and Washington, D.C., the NTS Rustburg laboratory is a full-spectrum test and research facility, offering comprehensive test and evaluation capabilities for the next generation of warships. The addition of EMI/EMC chambers enables NTS to offer MIL-STD-461 rated testing to the MIL-DTL-901E (previously MIL-S-901D) and MIL-STD-167 test and evaluations. Additional capabilities of the new chambers include MIL-STD-464, MIL-STD-461, MIL-STD-1399, MIL-STD-704, and RTCA/DO-160. The semi-anechoic test chambers are also used for airborne and structure-born noise.

“With the state-of-the-art EMI/EMC capabilities, NTS Rustburg is uniquely qualified to provide shipboard equipment and application testing for U.S. Navy programs,” said Steve Thompson, General Manager at the Rustburg test facility. As leaders in comprehensive defense industry testing, engineers and technical staff from the Rustburg laboratory will take their expertise to the 89th Shock and Vibration Symposium on November 4-8, 2018 in Dallas, Texas. “We’re proud to be known as the premier independent lab in the United States capable of providing all Navy equipment testing—from shock and vibration to EMI and EMC,” continued Thompson.
