Insight Schools of California Welcomes Students for 2018-19 School Year

Online Public Charter Schools’ First Day of School is August 27

SIMI VALLEY, Calif.--()--Students at Insight Schools of California (ISCA) will begin their 2018-19 school year on August 27, simply by turning on their computers. This marks the fifth year of operation for the accredited online public charter schools, which help high school students who have struggled to find success in a traditional brick-and-mortar school setting get back on track.

ISCA serves students in grades 9-12 who reside in many counties in California, including Alameda, Amador, Calaveras, Contra Costa, Imperial, Inyo, Kern, Kings, Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside, Sacramento, San Bernardino, San Diego, San Joaquin, San Luis Obispo, Santa Clara, Stanislaus, Tulare and Ventura. As a public school option, there is no tuition.

Combining innovative technology with an engaging curriculum led by state-credentialed teachers to provide a personalized learning experience to each student, ISCA offers families and students an alternative to traditional brick-and-mortar education.

The experienced teachers and professional school counselors at ISCA assess where students are academically deficient, then work closely with them and their parents to create individualized learning plans that map to each student’s unique academic needs, personal interests and college and career goals.

“Every child has potential. At Insight Schools of California, we work with students and their families to help them overcome obstacles and tap into their potential with a unique and supportive approach,” said Kimberly Odom, head of schools at ISCA. “Our teachers work with each family to deliver a personalized education that is tailored to their students’ individual needs and designed to meet them where they are.”

ISCA’s California-credentialed teachers facilitate lessons during live, interactive online classes, and interact with students and parents via phone, email, web-based classrooms and online discussions, building close partnerships with parents and students to support academic success and ensure families feel supported.

In addition to the academic focus, ISCA also offers a Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) program, which helps students increase their self-confidence and interpersonal skills. During the school year, students will meet twice a week in online advisory sessions to discuss topics that are relevant to their lives. The goal is to build confidence, create a sense of belonging and equip students with skills to make responsible decisions.

Students can also take advantage of ISCA’s quarter-system model. The program enables students to concentrate on just three courses each quarter (typically a nine-week period) and often helps students get back on track to graduate from high school on time.

Throughout the school year, ISCA builds a sense of community through in-person field trips, social outings and service learning opportunities. ISCA celebrates graduating seniors with an in-person commencement ceremony in the spring. Virtual clubs and student organizations also allow students to further explore their interests together in the online setting.

ISCA is currently accepting enrollments for the fall. Interested families are encouraged to attend online and in-person information sessions hosted by the school. To learn more, visit ca.insightschools.net or download the K12 enrollment app for iOS and Android devices.
