Embarcadero Launches Free Community Editions of C++Builder and Delphi

HOUSTON--()--Embarcadero (a division of Idera, Inc.), a provider of cross-platform application developer productivity tools, today announced the availability of free community editions of its C++Builder and Delphi products, making quality app development tools more easily accessible to aspiring developers and others seeking to learn new skills.

Designed for freelance developers, startups, students and non-profits with less than $5,000 in annual revenue, Community Edition is a fully featured IDE for building iOS, Android, Windows and macOS apps from a single Delphi or C++ codebase. It includes a code editor, powerful debugging tools, built-in access to popular databases with live data at design time, Bluetooth and IoT capabilities, and a visual UI designer with support for pixel perfect, platform specific styling.

“The launch of Delphi and C++Builder Community Editions represents a significant milestone for our growing community of developers,” said Atanas Popov, general manager of Embarcadero. “Now, many more aspiring developers around the world can experience the power of Delphi and C++Builder to build native apps that work equally well on mobile and desktops. This, combined with the ease of learning visual design and hundreds of available pretested components, will truly transform our community for the future growth. It is a great time to be a Delphi or C++ developer.”

While community editions of other IDEs offer similar licensing terms, none has the range of language support and feature set offered by Delphi and C++Builder, which encourage open source projects but permit some limited commercial use.

Other Community Edition benefits include:

  • Free of charge for organizations with no more than five developers or $5,000 in annual revenue
  • Integrated IDE provides a single environment for designing, coding, debugging, testing and deploying cross-platform apps
  • A single codebase and a master UI that can be easily customized per target platform, whether Windows, macOS, iOS or Android; ensures multi-device apps that are faster to develop and are easier to maintain
  • Integrated visual designer and hundreds of prebuilt components speed up prototypes and application design, even for developers without design experience
