NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--MSCI Inc. (NYSE:MSCI), a leading provider of indexes and portfolio construction and risk management tools and services for global investors, today announced the appointment of Russell Read, CFA, Ph.D., to Managing Director and Global Head of Client Solutions. Dr. Read will report to Laurent Seyer, Chief Operating Officer and Chief Client Officer of MSCI, and will be a member of the firm’s Executive Committee. He will be based in London and is expected to start in September 2018.

Dr. Read will lead MSCI’s efforts to bring integrated solutions to its larger Asset Owner and Asset Manager clients to support improvements in their investment decision processes. He will serve as a thought leader and strengthen MSCI’s investment-focused culture around the world.
Dr. Read joins MSCI from Alaska Permanent Fund Corporation where he served as Chief Investment Officer and oversaw the investment teams for the State’s $65 billion Permanent Fund. Previously, Dr. Read was Chief Investment Officer and Deputy Chief Executive for Gulf Investment Corporation from 2011-2015. Earlier in his career, he was Chief Investment Officer of the California Public Employees’ Retirement System. He received his B.A. in Statistics and M.B.A. in Finance and International Business from the University of Chicago, and received an M.A. and Ph.D. from Stanford University. Dr. Read is a CFA® charterholder.
