TAMPA, Fla.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Airborne Maintenance & Engineering Services, a wholly owned subsidiary of Air Transport Services Group, Inc. (NASDAQ:ATSG), was honored at the Enterprise Florida board meeting with the Job Creator Award presented by Board Chair Stan Connally on behalf of Governor Rick Scott’s office.
Airborne provides Maintenance Repair & Overhaul services at their Tampa, Florida location to a who's who list of cargo and passenger airlines. With a strong workforce exceeding 450—a majority of those being skilled technician positions—the company is on track to add more than 100 positions in 2018 at its 320,000 sq. ft. two-hangar facility at the Tampa International Airport. This workforce expansion is due to the commitment to further develop Airborne-Tampa as a premier MRO destination for airlines.
The same facility is home to Airborne's industry-leading B737 passenger-to-freighter conversion provider, Pemco Conversions, which offers over 26 freighter platforms and is currently preparing the first-of-its-kind B737-700 FlexCombiTM for STC approval.
"This award validates the addition of a Florida-based growth-oriented MRO location for Airborne Maintenance & Engineering Services," said Airborne President Brady Templeton, who accepted the award during the event at the Westshore Grand Hotel. "We value the opportunity to contribute to the Tampa community through skilled job growth and look forward to additional programs that attract new talent to aviation maintenance."
