ADA, Okla.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--LegalShield, one of North America’s leading providers of affordable legal plans and the IDShield identity theft solution for individuals, families and small businesses, proudly supports democratizing access to justice for all. The company announced today that it will commemorate Law Day, May 1, 2018, and has set up a toll-free hotline for individuals in all 50 states to call and speak with an attorney for free. Between 7 a.m. – 7 p.m. CT, volunteer attorneys from LegalShield’s network of provider law firms will take calls and speak with any individual – not just LegalShield members – who has legal questions.
By calling 1-800-261-8165, individuals can get access to a lawyer who can answer questions about several areas of law. LegalShield’s network of attorneys have an average of 22 years of experience in areas such as family matters, estate planning, financial and business issues, consumer protection, tax, real estate, benefits disputes and auto/driving issues. Services are also available in Spanish. Attorneys will not be retained, and they will not be representing any individuals.
“Law Day is a national day of service, and it is up to all of us to uphold the American Bar Association’s mission to assure meaningful access to justice for everyone,” explained Keri Norris, senior vice president of regulatory affairs and chief legal counsel at LegalShield. “The vast majority of Americans cannot afford a lawyer, and nationally there continues to be a shortage of legal solutions and resources for underserved and low-income individuals and families. LegalShield is committed to advancing the legal profession and to removing the barriers to justice through technology. We believe that absolutely no one should go without due legal protection because they can’t afford it.”
Law Day is held on May 1 every year to celebrate the role of law in our society and to cultivate a deeper understanding of the legal profession. President Dwight Eisenhower established the first Law Day in 1958 to mark the nation’s commitment to the rule of law. In 1961, Congress codified May 1 as the official date for celebrating Law Day (U.S. Code, Title 36, Section 113). Every president since then has issued a Law Day proclamation on May 1 to celebrate the nation’s commitment to the rule of law. This year’s theme is “Separation of Power: Framework for Freedom.”
A pioneer in the democratization of affordable access to legal protection, LegalShield is one of North America’s leading providers of legal safeguards and protection against identity theft for individuals, families and small businesses. The 45-year-old company has more than 1,753,000 members that are covered by its legal and identity theft plans. IDShield provides identity theft protection to one million individuals. LegalShield and IDShield serve more than 141,000 businesses. Both legal and identity theft plans start for less than $25 per month.
LegalShield’s legal plans provide access to attorneys with an average of 22 years of experience in areas such as family matters, estate planning, financial and business issues, consumer protection, tax, real estate, benefits disputes and auto/driving issues. Unlike other legal plans or do-it-yourself websites, LegalShield has dedicated law firms in 50 states and four provinces in Canada that members can call for help without having to worry about high hourly rates.
IDShield provides identity monitoring and restoration services and is the only identity theft protection company armed with a team of licensed private investigators on call to restore a member’s identity. For more information, call press and corporate relations at 580-436-1234.
