AVIA Welcomes Two New Health System Member-Owners

Investments reveal the imperative to leverage digital as a business asset

CHICAGO--()--AVIA, the nation’s leading network for health systems seeking to innovate and transform by unlocking the power of digital, recently welcomed two new “Member-owners,” the University of Virginia (UVA) Health System and Memorial Hermann Health System.

The imperative to innovate has never been more urgent, as health systems strive to meet changing consumer expectations, challenge competitors, and operate efficiently. Members trust AVIA to help them identify, implement, and scale the best digital solutions to support their strategic objectives. AVIA connects 30+ action-oriented health systems across the nation and builds data points around shared interests, solutions, and results. UVA Health System joined the AVIA Innovator Network recently, in mid-2017, and quickly grasped the power of the Network. Instead of working on innovation in isolation, UVA now works with leading health systems from across the country to find better ways to serve its patients and improve care delivery. This collaborative approach, which results in accelerated results, emboldened Jeff Keller, UVA’s first Chief Innovation Officer, to strengthen the relationship with an equity investment.

“At UVA, a core part of our mission is to constantly challenge ourselves as to how we can better deliver care to our patients. We’re always seeking to apply new ideas and technology that can help us evolve and excel,” Keller said. “In AVIA, we’ve found a partner with a strong commitment to methodology, and the Network effect is invaluable – working together with our peers is helping us innovate faster and smarter.”

In addition to UVA Health System, Memorial Hermann is the newest Member-owner of the AVIA Network. A long-standing Member of the Network, Memorial Hermann was inspired to expand its relationship with AVIA as part of its drive to deploy digital tools to improve the patient experience. Healthcare transformation is complex, and AVIA brings necessary transparency, efficiency, and confidence to the process.

“As the healthcare industry continues to evolve, we are innovating to keep pace with the new demands and ensure our patients have the best experience while in our care,” said David Bradshaw, Executive Vice President and Chief Strategy and Business Development Officer at Memorial Hermann. “Our future is a digital one, and we are excited about the opportunity to partner with a valuable network like AVIA to embrace new technologies and tools that keep us at the forefront of medicine.”

Memorial Hermann and UVA Health System join five existing Member-owners: OSF Healthcare, St. Luke's University Health Network, Providence St. Joseph Health, Froedtert Health, and Rush University Medical Center.

AVIA enjoyed continued success in 2017, with 100% Member renewal rate and 40% growth in its Network, including its first international member, Imperial College Health Partners in the UK.

“AVIA’s model and success have encouraged our members to double down on their relationship with us,” said Eric Langshur, CEO and Co-founder of AVIA. “This validates our position on healthcare transformation – that digital is the answer and collaboration is the approach. The insights and investments from Member-owners will help shape the nation’s highest impact innovation network.”
