Cho-Liang Lin and Shau-Wai Lam Lead Honorary Committee for Sau-Wing and Jean L. Lam Award Event on April 27

NEW YORK--()--Maestro Cho-Liang Lin and Shau-Wai Lam have joined the Honorary Committee of Si-Yo Music Society Foundation's award concert on Friday, April 27 at 8 p.m. at Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall. Si-Yo will present the Sau-Wing and Jean L. Lam Award to New Jersey City University's Caroline L. Guarini Department of Music, Dance and Theatre, whose students and alumni will perform. Lin will serve as chair and Lam will serve as vice-chair.

“I am delighted to serve as honorary chairman of this event,” said Lin, an internationally renowned violinist and a Si-Yo Master Artist™. “Half a century ago, Si-Yo's founders encouraged musicians who emigrated to the United States, supporting them with shelter and financial assistance. NJCU embodies their spirit.”

“Sau-Wing and Jean were hard-working Chinese-Americans who shared what they had when they had it, never deferring their time and resources to the future,” said Shau-Wai Lam, chairman emeritus of DCH Auto Group. “Such generosity is most essential for sustaining the performing arts.”

The committee is comprised of the Lams' longtime friends from fields including business, finance, art, medicine, and law. The group highlights the breadth and scope of the community of supporters who shared the founders' purpose of helping musicians achieve their aspirations while bringing world-class performances to prominent venues as well as schools and community centers with few such opportunities.

Eva Lerner-Lam, Si-Yo chairwoman and president, expressed gratitude to all of the committee members. “Boosted by their enthusiastic support, we anticipate an inspiring celebration with NJCU.”

Tickets, priced at $30, are available at the Carnegie Hall Box Office, 57th Street and Seventh Avenue, or can be charged to major credit cards by calling CarnegieCharge at 212-247-7800 or by visiting the Carnegie Hall website, carnegiehall.org.

Donations are being accepted to provide complimentary tickets for students who cannot frequently attend such events. Information on this, group discounts and more is at https://www.si-yomusicsociety.org/swjll-award.
