SEOUL, South Korea--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Megazone (CSO: Max Lee), one of the largest AWS partners in the APAC region, today announced that it achieved the K-ISMS, Korea-Information Security Management System, certification recently. With this, Megazone became the first one among all global cloud MSPs (Managed Service Providers) that are active in the Korean market to have acquired the certification. Beforehand, Amazon Web Services (AWS) Korea was able to obtain the K-ISMS certification on December 27th, 2017 in Korea.
ISMS is a set of policies and procedures for systematically managing an organization's sensitive data. The goal of an ISMS is to protect company’s critical data, minimize risk and ensure business continuity by pro-actively limiting the impact of a security breach. The audit process is conducted in 5 management areas, 13 protection provisions and a total of 104 accreditation criteria, with 253 more detailed criteria.
K-ISMS is supervised by Ministry of Science and Information Technology (MSIT) and reviewed by Korea Association for ICT Promotion (KAIT) before the final decision is made by the certification authority, Korea Internet & Security Agency or Korea Financial Security Institute.
Megazone Corporation, in cooperation with Cloud ISMS consulting-specialized company Cloud Security Corporation, has been making preparations for the process to take part of Shared Responsibility Model as a managed service provider for enterprise customers using global cloud services. Since it passed the test conducted by KAIT in 2017, Megazone finally achieved the certification by KISA on February 22, 2018.
“Following AWS Korea's ISMS certification, Megazone’s achievement on the ISMS certification, the first one among AWS partners in the country, will provide a preemptive way to meet the security requirements laid down by the government and set out a solid foundation for other managed service providers to comply with the security regulations in Korea. With this, we anticipate that the security system will be strengthened for customers using cloud services and also help companies considering cloud adoption make the decision” said Max Lee, CSO at Megazone Corporation.
“Companies with a revenue of 10 billion KRW or more in the information and communication service sector and an average daily visitor count of more than 1 million are required to obtain ISMS certification. With our ISMS certification consulting experiences, including Megazone, we hope that we could provide companies subject to ISMS certification more time and cost saving strategies in obtaining ISMS certification while contributing to reinforcement of the security management system for more companies through this process” said KwangSuk Ko from Cloud Security Inc.
