BOSTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Invaluable, the world’s leading online marketplace for fine art, antiques and collectibles, today announced the official launch of the Invaluable app for Android, now available for download at the Google Play Store. With this new offering, Invaluable is expanding its suite of mobile bidding options, which also includes the Invaluable app for iPad and iPhone and a mobile-optimized website.
Invaluable currently receives nearly 40 percent of all site traffic from mobile devices. The Android mobile operating system commands more than an 80 percent share of mobile browsers*, and Android traffic on Invaluable grew by more than 40 percent last year.
“Today, Invaluable users increasingly utilize their mobile devices when they look for, bid on and win the objects they’re passionate about. So we’re very excited to open up a new mobile channel that welcomes the largest mobile platform in the world,” said Rob Weisberg, Invaluable CEO.
“The introduction of the Invaluable app for Android makes it even easier for our users to stay connected and bid on-the-go in the thousands of live auctions on Invaluable,” he added.
The launch coincides with Invaluable’s further expansion in Asia, where Android is the dominant operating system on mobile phones, said Weisberg. Invaluable is already partnering with Poly Auction Hong Kong, Ravenel Ltd. and other Asian auction companies. Bidding activity from users in the Asia-Pacific market currently represents more than 14 percent of auction sales across the Invaluable marketplace, he added.
The Invaluable app runs on Android 5.0 or higher and features exclusive “swipe to bid” technology -- providing users an easy, reliable way to bid in real-time during live auctions.
In addition to real-time bidding, the Invaluable app for Android also allows users to follow their favorite auction houses, browse hundreds of auctions and register for the auctions that interest them the most. Users can utilize the app to create a new account, leave absentee bids on auction lots in advance of the live auction, and manage their auction registrations, watched lots and lots won.
Users will notice dramatic improvements in performance and stability, Weisberg said.
Among the enhanced features are: filtering in search by category, seller and seller location; auction house screens with seller details and upcoming auctions; and simpler auction house search capability.
