WASHINGTON--()--The GEICO board of directors recently named Melissa Gallaro vice president of GEICO; Gallaro will also continue to serve as vice president of GEICO Insurance Agency (GIA), which manages partner companies for personal lines insurance products on behalf of GEICO. The board also named Denise O’Malley, of Buffalo, N.Y., an assistant vice president of GEICO.

O’Malley has responsibility for GEICO Insurance Agency sales and service operations that offer homeowners, renters, boat and other personal lines insurance coverage.

She began her GEICO career in 2005 as a military sales associate at the company’s Virginia Beach, Va., regional office. After working in several other capacities, she was named a sales manager in the motorcycle division in 2010. O’Malley moved to Indianapolis in 2013 to help open GEICO’s office where she made major contributions to help grow that operation.

O’Malley, who has a business administration degree from Indiana Institute of Technology, made the transition to the GEICO Insurance Agency in 2016, eventually moving to Buffalo to oversee the service division there.

Gallaro joined GEICO in 2002 as a sales counselor at the company’s Woodbury, N.Y., regional office, where she later was named the planning manager. She relocated to GEICO’s Fredericksburg, Va., regional office in 2009 and went on to become the sales and service director for the GEICO Insurance Agency.

She was elected an officer in December 2014, managing GIA centers in Buffalo, Fredericksburg and Virginia Beach and leading GIA partner relations. With her recent promotion, she now oversees GIA’s digital platform.

Gallaro, who is based at the Fredericksburg’s office, earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Mary Washington University and an MBA from Long Island University.
