INDIANAPOLIS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield in Indiana (Anthem) and Beacon Health System announced today that Beacon Health System will be an in-network provider for Anthem’s Medicare Advantage (MA) plans starting on January 1, 2018. Individuals enrolled in Anthem’s MA plans will experience benefits, such as lower out-of-pocket costs compared to seeing out-of-network health care providers, when they use Beacon Health System’s full range of services.

Beacon Health System provides northern Indiana residents with high-quality health care through its network of facilities, which include Elkhart General Hospital, Memorial Hospital of South Bend, Beacon Medical Group, and urgent care centers. Its clinicians deliver patient care in areas such as mental health, cancer, trauma, heart and vascular care, stroke, surgery, weight loss services, and community health programs.

The addition of Beacon Health System to Anthem’s Medicare Advantage network is also an important consideration for individuals evaluating their Medicare health plan options for the 2018 year. Anthem’s Medicare Advantage in-network providers include most of the major health systems in the northern Indiana region, giving people the flexibility to choose doctors and facilities that suit their particular health needs and personal preferences.
The opportunity to enroll in a Medicare plan began on October 15 and continues through December 7. This Annual Election Period (AEP) is the one time each year when Medicare-eligible individuals can pick or switch Medicare Advantage plans.
Hoosiers eligible for Medicare Advantage – those who are enrolled in Medicare Parts A and B – have the opportunity to select from a number 2018 Medicare Advantage plans offered by Anthem. These plans include Anthem MediBlue Plus (HMO), Anthem MediBlue Access (PPO), Anthem MediBlue Access Basic (Regional PPO) and Anthem MediBlue Dual Advantage (HMO SNP).
