San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department Goes Live with SoftCode Civil Process Software Suite by Tyler Technologies

San Bernardino joins 16 other California counties that have selected SoftCode

PLANO, Texas--()--Tyler Technologies, Inc. (NYSE: TYL) announced that the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department has successfully gone live with Tyler’s SoftCode, a complete civil process software suite. The six-month implementation was on time and on budget, and adds to Tyler’s growing client base of California counties benefitting from SoftCode.

Tyler helped San Bernardino County transition from an antiquated to a modern integrated system allowing them to better allocate work resources among their offices, enhance efficiency and streamline workflows.

“We’ve been very impressed with Tyler’s level of customer support throughout the implementation process, and I know that the benefits from using this solution will be far-reaching for our department, including improving our internal operations and workflows,” said Captain James Williams, San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department. “In fact, we’ve already had other counties come in to see how much more efficient we are than counties using other systems.”

On its old system, the sheriff’s department required a full day to input and process court payments across multiple cases. The process has been reduced to under an hour with SoftCode, bringing a new level of efficiency that allows the department to free up resources. In addition, San Bernardino will benefit from Tyler’s evergreen perpetual licensing approach, which provides regular and significant, yet manageable, software enhancements without additional licensing fees.

“This was a truly collaborative implementation process involving several on-site visits, numerous rounds of data conversions, and two-way communication as we refined the solution to meet San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department’s specific needs,” said Liz Magoun, general manager of Tyler’s SoftCode solution. “Once we reached the go-live date, many of their subject matter experts had already been using the solution for several months, making the transition to go-live more seamless for all.”

San Bernardino County selected Tyler after a competitive review process, citing Tyler’s deep expertise in civil process and track record of successful civil processing implementations over the past 25 years. The county’s Superior Court has also recently successfully implemented Tyler’s, Odyssey Case Manager. This major implementation in its Criminal and Traffic courts has approximately 500 Odyssey users. The sheriff’s department joins other California clients that have recently implemented the SoftCode solution, including Madera County, which went live with SoftCode in just four months.

“We’ve been very pleased so far with the SoftCode solution in our county, and we’ve already been able to benefit from the efficiencies it has brought our various departments,” said Mike Motz, Madera County Chief Civil Deputy and Co-Liaison Chair of the California State Sheriff’s Association Civil Committee. “We’re also excited about the tools Tyler provides us for sharing best practices with other SoftCode counties. This collaboration is a big benefit of joining the Tyler family.”

SoftCode’s presence continues to grow within California and across the country. Currently, it is being used successfully in more than 150 counties across 28 states. San Bernardino County is California’s fifth most-populous county with approximately 2 million residents. Other counties recently implemented with SoftCode are Merced, Tulare, and Santa Clara in California. In addition, implementations currently under way include Orleans Parish in Louisiana and Collin and Travis counties in Texas.
