HANNOVER, Germany--(BUSINESS WIRE)--OSIsoft LLC, a global leader enabling operational intelligence, and Microsoft are proud to announce that several new companies have joined the Red Carpet Incubation Program (RCIP) for accelerating Industry 4.0 strategies.
The new participants are Barrick Gold, Henkel, MPWiK (Poland Water) and Toyota Motor Europe.
The comprehensive collaboration between OSIsoft and Microsoft with the Red Carpet Incubation Program (RCIP) is designed to dramatically reduce the time, cost, and employee mindshare required to implement Industry 4.0 initiatives. OSIsoft’s PI System captures real-time insights from assets like sensors and manufacturing equipment and serves it up to engineers, executives, and others so they can cut costs, predict equipment failures or make strategic decisions. Microsoft’s Cloud Platform, which includes Cortana Intelligence and the PI Integrator for Microsoft Azure, is a recognized premier platform for Big Data analytics.
Under RCIP, OSIsoft and Microsoft collaborate with participants to develop processes to seamlessly connect real-time data from operations with analytics and business applications, thereby bridging the OT and IT gap and paving the way for digital transformation. A key element of RCIP is the Azure that automatically cleans, prepares and transmits PI System data to Microsoft’s Cloud Platform.
Barrick Gold-Digital Reinvention
Barrick is joining RCIP to develop analytical models for predictive maintenance for their trucks at their Cortez mining site, adding the PI Integrator for Microsoft Azure to its existing PI System infrastructure as part of their Common Data Platform initiative.
“We like the agile approach of OSIsoft and Microsoft’s Red Carpet Incubation Program for rapid operationalization of advanced analytics, helping us to harness the potential of digital technology and unlock value across Barrick’s business," said Ed Humphries, Barrick’s Head of Digital Transformation.
Deschutes Brewery- Brewing up a Smarter Way to Make Beer
Deschutes Brewery, the seventh-largest craft brewery in the United States, is transforming beer making with data science. Deschutes employed the PI System to better understand its brewing process and managed to postpone an $8 million capital upgrade by making its current facilities more efficient. Deschutes joined RCIP in 2016 and expanded the program with RCIP via PI Integrator for Microsoft Azure and Microsoft Cortana Intelligence: Deschutes anticipates it can save an average of 48 hours for every batch of beer across eight to ten brands.
“By integrating the OSIsoft PI System with Microsoft Cortana Intelligence, we’ve identified opportunities for process efficiency all the way down the production line," says Brian Faivre, Brewmaster, Deschutes Brewery. “This may be the greatest project I’ve ever been involved with in my brewing career.”
Henkel – Predictive Analytics for Adhesives Manufacturing Operations
Henkel joined the Red Carpet Incubation Program for predictive analysis and forecasting for the adhesive manufacturing in Germany. The company aims to improve the big data management and the machine learning capabilities to accelerate the implementation of Industry 4.0 projects and initiatives.
MPWiK S.A in Wroclaw, Poland - Advanced IT/OT integration
Water utility MPWiK dates back to 1871 when it launched its plant on Na Grobli, although the story of the city's water supply goes back to the Middle Ages. MPWiK serves Wroclaw's 630,000 Wroclaw residents and implemented OSIsoft's PI System as a real-time data infrastructure to connect production, new metering systems and business level systems.
Through RCIP, MPWiK is planning to use Cortana Intelligence for water pressure adjustment decision support in response to water demand. MPWiK Wroclaw is one of the most, if not the most, technologically advanced water and sewage city authorities in Poland.
Toyota Motor Europe – Energy Forecast for Production Facilities
Toyota Motor Europe joined RCIP for advanced analytics with Cortana Intelligence and PI Integrator for Microsoft Azure for Energy management and Energy Forecast for their production facilities.
“It’s a pleasure being a longtime collaborator with OSIsoft to drive innovation in the manufacturing industry,” said Caglayan Arkan, General Manager of Worldwide Manufacturing and Resources at Microsoft. “Our customers are excited about new digital capabilities like those provided by RCIP and the PI Integrator for Microsoft Azure that can help transform their business.”
The Life of PI System
The PI System is one of the world’s most widely used technologies for the Industrial Internet of Things. Over 1,000 leading utilities, 95 percent of the largest oil and gas companies and more than 65 percent of the Fortune 500 industrial companies, rely on the high-fidelity insights from the PI System to manage their businesses. The PI System can be found behind the scenes at offshore wind farms, pharmaceutical manufacturing facilities and municipal water networks, among other facilities, ensuring safety and quality of service. Worldwide, PI Systems collectively manage over 1.5 billion sensor-based data streams.
“Data is your most valuable asset, the vast majority of IIoT data is not analyzed, in part due to a historic divide between operational technology (OT) and information technology (IT) within industrial organizations,” said Prabal Acharyya, Director, Worldwide Director IoT Analytics at OSIsoft. “Through our work with Microsoft, we are putting the power of advanced analytics into the hands of the people who face operational challenges and understand the decisions that need to be made, the solution helps close the gap between OT and IT.”
Please RSVP (MSGTM@osisoft.com) to secure your place for complimentary pre-RCIP Introductory and discovery sessions with OSIsoft and Microsoft at the OSIsoft booth inside Microsoft booth at Hall 7, Hannover Messe, April 23-27 in Hannover Germany. OSIsoft and their partners & customers will be available the booth for discussion and knowledge sharing.
