Highland Homes Announces Conversion to Employee Stock Ownership Plan

Top Builder Now 100 Percent Employee Owned

DALLAS--()--Highland Homes announced today that the company has converted to an Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP). The new entity will be 100% employee owned. Highland employs more than 600 people.

“We made this move to ensure Highland’s long-term future and to maintain the unique culture of our commitment to homeowners and employees,” said Rod Sanders, co-founder of Highland Homes. “We can now continue to provide the best possible customer experience and honor the employees who have built this company.”

Sanders said the current owners and management team will remain with Highland in their existing roles. There will be no change in how the company is operated and all current policies will remain in place.

“Doing the right thing for our employees, customers and partners has always been the basis of our core values,” said Jean Ann Brock. “The ESOP ensures Highland Homes remains privately held, so we can continue to honor our commitments.”

Formed in 1985 by brother and sister team Rod Sanders and Jean Ann Brock, Highland is currently the 6th largest privately held homebuilding company in the US and the largest private builder in the State of Texas. Highland builds homes in Dallas, Houston, Austin and San Antonio under the brand names Highland Homes, Horizon Homes, Huntington Homes and Sanders Custom Builder. In 2015, Highland sold over 2400 homes and had over $1 billion in revenue. Highland also celebrated its 30th year as a homebuilder in 2015 and has built more than 50,000 homes to date.
