SWORDS, Ireland--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Ingersoll Rand plc (NYSE:IR), a world leader in creating comfortable, sustainable and efficient environments, is pleased to appoint Maria Green as senior vice president and general counsel, effective November 2. She will serve as an officer of the company and be responsible for strategic leadership and oversight of Ingersoll Rand’s legal and compliance affairs worldwide.

She will report to Lamach as part of his enterprise leadership team and be based in Davidson, N.C.
Green joins Ingersoll Rand from Illinois Tool Works where she served as senior vice president, general counsel and corporate secretary since 2011. During her tenure as general counsel, she provided leadership for environmental, health, safety and sustainability. With more than 30 years of experience, she began her career at Continental Illinois National Bank & Trust Co. and practiced law with Hazel Thomas Fiske Beckhorn & Hanes, P.C. and Akin, Gump, Strauss, Hauer & Feld, LLP in Washington, D.C. Green also held leadership roles at the Chicago Transit Authority and AMTRAK. In 1997, she began working for Illinois Tool Works, and as general counsel led a global team and guided the company’s expansion through acquisitions and organic growth.
She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Sociology/Economics from the University of Pennsylvania and Juris Doctorate from Boston University School of Law.
