MINNEAPOLIS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Tennant Company (NYSE: TNC), a world leader in designing, manufacturing and marketing solutions that help create a cleaner, safer, healthier world announced that the Orbio® os3 system—developed and marketed through its Orbio Technologies Group—was selected as a 2015 Money-Saving Product winner by BUILDINGS magazine. The Orbio os3 system is part of an elite group of products showcased in the magazine’s June 2015 issue.
The BUILDINGS editorial staff evaluated finalists for the money-saving qualities their products offer to building owners and facility managers in areas such as energy consumption, water savings, lighting, security, roofing and maintenance.
The Orbio os3 system replaces conventional, daily-use cleaning chemicals that often contain added chemical coloring and fragrance. Through the process of water electrolysis—which combines water, electricity and a small amount of salt—the os3 system creates a cleaning solution and a disinfecting/sanitizing solution, right on site, that meets U.S. EPA regulatory guidelines for disinfection and sanitization. Designed to fit in most janitorial closets, the os3 is compact, affordable and simple. The system makes cleaning processes more efficient, streamlines training, and helps improve health and safety. It also decreases the environmental footprint associated with conventional packaged chemicals by reducing packaging and transportation.
The cost of ready-to-use (RTU) conventional packaged chemicals is typically higher than Orbio os3 RTU solutions and can fluctuate substantially, depending on the type of cleaner or disinfectant used and the application. The cost per RTU gallon of Orbio os3 solutions remains relatively consistent and low no matter what the application*.
“Orbio Technologies is proud to have our os3 system named as a money-saving product by BUILDINGS magazine,” said Karla Leis, Vice President and General Manager of Orbio Technologies Group. “At a time when owners and operators are asked to do more with less, it is especially gratifying to offer building owners and facility managers the os3 system as a way to help reduce their cost to clean while delivering superior results.”
Leis added, “The unique challenges of maintaining large and busy facilities require creative thinking and planning. The Orbio os3 system can help deliver benefits that conventional daily-use chemicals cannot, including lower costs. By switching to Orbio OSG, a facility manager could see a cost reduction between 40% and 96% compared to conventional packaged chemicals, depending on the kinds of chemicals being replaced.”
The versatility of the Orbio os3 OSG system makes it easy to implement in buildings of all kinds including universities, corporate campuses, airports, healthcare facilities and retail chains. In addition, the compact size of the machine makes it even easier to implement and the system can be easily and cost-effectively expanded throughout a facility with the unique os3 satellite system.
This award joins other honors recently given to the os3 system, including the 2014 ISSA Innovation Award in the Dispensers category; a Top 10 Product of 2014 by American School and University magazine; and Honorable Mention for an Innovation Award by the Association for the Healthcare Environment (AHE).
The top money-saving products are featured in the June 2015 issue of BUILDINGS magazine which serves over 74,000 commercial building owners and facilities management professionals in North America. The monthly publication helps readers make smarter decisions relevant to the management, modernization and operation of their facilities.
