Point72 Names Five Sector Executive Officers

STAMFORD, Conn.--()--Point72 Asset Management (Point72) has appointed three people to the role of Sector Executive Officer (XO) in its Long/Short (L/S) equities business, Point72 President Doug Haynes announced today. The Firm also named XOs to two other key business units, Mr. Haynes said.

Point72 reorganized its L/S equities business into seven sector- and geographic-specific Operating Units last October: Old Economy/Materials (Industrials), Energy, Consumer/Retail/Finance (Consumer), Technology/Media/Telecom (TMT), Healthcare, Japan, and Hong Kong. Each sector is led by a Sector Executive (SE) and is assisted by an XO, compliance officer, risk leader, and research coordinator. The purpose of the reorganization was to streamline operations, increase management oversight of the investment process, and improve the quality of decision-making.

The SEs act as general managers for their units, supporting and supervising all portfolio managers (PMs) in their sectors, and are accountable for performance, oversight, and the professional development of their Sector teams. The XOs serve as the SE’s chief of staff, support and oversee all analysts in the Operating Unit, and help identify and develop the Firm’s next generation of investment talent.

Jessica Anderson, James Fontelieu, and Rachel Lewis will serve as the respective XOs for Point72’s TMT, Consumer, and Industrials Operating Units, and will report to the SEs for each sector. Matthew Katz will serve as the XO for Aperio, Point72’s Data and Analytics platform, and Annie Wang will be the XO for the Firm’s L/S Professional Development function.

“We took great care in selecting these five men and women because the XO position is integral to Point72’s L/S equities business as well as other key functions of the Firm,” Mr. Haynes said.

“Jess, James, and Rachel bring creativity, fresh perspectives, and leadership capabilities to their roles, and will work closely with our Sector Executives to strengthen the management and decision-making of our sectors. Matt and Annie bring those same qualities to Aperio and Point72’s L/S Professional Development units. The work of the XOs will immeasurably strengthen our Firm.”
