Carolyn Johnson Joins NBC4 Southern California as Co-Anchor and General Assignment Reporter

UNIVERSAL CITY, Calif.--()--NBC4 Southern California announced today that Carolyn Johnson will join the station in June. Johnson will co-anchor the hour-long mid-day newscast, “NBC4 News at Noon,” alongside Whit Johnson. She will also co-anchor the station’s “News at 6 p.m.” alongside Chuck Henry.

“Carolyn is an excellent journalist whose passion for journalism is seen through her exceptional story-telling abilities,” said Todd Mokhtari, Vice President of News for NBC4 Southern California. “Carolyn grew up in Southern California and now she is returning home to join the most talented and respected journalists in the market at NBC4.”

With more than 20 years of journalism and production experience, Johnson has been both in front and behind the camera with reporting and producing numerous programs and specials. Johnson joins NBC4 after a successful career in San Francisco. Since 2007, Johnson co-anchored KGO’s ABC7 News at 6 p.m. The past five years, she also co-anchored the station’s 4 p.m. and 11 p.m. newscasts. She began working in Central California in 1995 as a reporter for KSBY in San Luis Obispo.

Johnson is also known for her reporting on health and science. One of her most memorable stories was in 2011 when she travelled to West Africa’s Sierra Leone to cover maternal and child health issues. She is also involved with community groups and an active board member of the Peninsula Family Service, which provide families with support to lead healthy, stable lives.

She graduated from Stanford University with honors and holds B.A. degrees in psychology and communication. She is married and has two children.
