Time Inc. Names Erynn Petersen Senior Vice President, Strategic Mobile Development

NEW YORK--()--Time Inc. today appointed Erynn Petersen Senior Vice President, Strategic Mobile Development, effective immediately. Petersen is responsible for developing the company's technology offering in the mobile and tablet space and reports to Time Inc. Executive Vice President and Chief Technology Officer, Colin Bodell.

"Erynn has been developing platform and technical strategies throughout her career for companies like Amazon, AOL and Microsoft," commented Bodell. "She has a unique combination of product development and technical management skills, which she will bring to bear in collaborating with our U.S. and U.K. brands in developing a companywide mobile product strategy and leading our engineering teams in building new product offerings. We are delighted to have a leader with such a deep background join our technology team."

Petersen joins Time Inc. from Outercurve, a foundation focused on developing open source projects between enterprise software companies. As its Executive Director, she was responsible for working with the Outercurve Board members and Board President on the Foundation’s fiscal plan and structure.

Previously at AOL, Petersen served as Senior Vice President of Paid Services Engineering, where her teams built the tools, frameworks and services that helped AOL subscribers safely and securely access content and applications online. She also was active in developer recruitment efforts and established a program for delivering AOL projects to the Open Source community.

Earlier, Petersen worked at Amazon supervising a number of projects including the launch of a third-party sellers’ platform and at Microsoft, where she served on the launch team for Bing paid advertising.

Petersen is active in expanding the role of women in software development and Open Source contribution as a current board member of Girl Develop It. She was also recently a keynote speaker at the 2014 Open Source Festival and ran a workshop on children and technology at the SXSW.edu conference.
