LAS VEGAS--()--Today at CES, Magisto demonstrated how to take the smartphone’s seemingly endless capacity to capture every moment of our lives and instantly transform those reams of raw video and rolls of pictures into great stories.

The new Magisto technology, called CamCrew, is an A.I. driven smart-photographer that analyzes and automatically captures a video story as it unfolds before the lens.

Like a film crew inside a smartphone, CamCrew casts the stars, automatically shoots the best images of those characters and captures best scenes to tell their story. Beyond merely telling the story, it insures the quality of the shoot by offering real-time feedback on the lighting, framing and stability.

CamCrew smart-photographer, combined with Magisto’s core smart-editing technology, offers any user the end-to-end production process that a professional film crew might deliver, all on their smartphone: a director to inform the shots and tell the story, a photographer to capture quality shots, and an editing and production team to make the movie in parallel with the real-life experience.

“The sheer volume of personal video and photography is becoming more and more unwieldy,” said Oren Boiman, co-founder and CEO of Magisto. “CamCrew makes Magisto a virtual full-service film production team, solving the problem of reels of useless footage by transforming the user experience from simply shooting video to instant movie-making and storytelling.”

CamCrew is taking advantage of Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 chipset to deliver powerful functionality right on the device that will dramatically enhance the quality, output and value of everyday photos and videos, transforming any memory into a movie. The CamCrew technology is demonstrated in Qualcomm’s booth at CES.

“This is an alternative vision: rolling the camera isn’t the beginning of the process, it’s the whole process because you’re making movies and telling stories every time you start the camera,” Mr. Boiman continued. “If, as they say, one picture is worth 1,000 words, then this technology will speak volumes.”

The addition of CamCrew to Magisto’s core technology puts an entire automated film crew into a smartphone, improving the quality and the speed of personal storytelling, making it possible to convert every experience the user captures into amazing movies on-the-fly. The functionality will initially be available through the Magisto app, but over time CamCrew will become a native component of the phone’s camera.
