TNW USA Conference

BOSTON--()--Adyen, the global payments solutions company, today announced that TheNextWeb (TNW), one of the largest and most influential international media companies focusing on Internet technology, business and culture, has expanded its relationship with Adyen to provide payments support in the United States. The expansion will enable the TNW Events division to offer localized payments options for its first TNW USA Conference in New York (October 1-2). Adyen also supports TNW Events in Europe and South America.

In addition, Adyen will be sponsoring the TNW Start-Up Rally at the conference. Fifteen start-ups out of hundreds of applicants, plus five additional start-ups exhibiting at the show, will be launching their companies or announcing major news on stage at the conference before a panel of judges, which currently includes: Chris Daniels, head of Facebook Platform partnerships and business development; Brad Hunstable, CEO and Founder, Ustream, Inc.; Amy Wu, Senior Associate, IA Ventures; and Roelant Prins, Chief Commerce Officer, Adyen.

“Businesses of tomorrow need innovative, new payment solutions to help them expand their customer bases internationally and capture a greater share of global revenue,” said Mr. Prins. “As a proud partner of TNW’s Start-up Rally, Adyen is delighted to share and discuss today’s modern payment solutions and business strategies that will successfully propel participating start-ups towards their monetization goals.”

To help prepare participants for the Start-Up Rally – and their future success in the global economy – Adyen will host a half-day workshop led by top business executives, serial entrepreneurs and venture capitalists who will consult with the start-ups on business strategies, funding strategies, international payments and new payment technology. The participating mentors are:

  • Derrick Morton, CEO, FlowPlay: Derrick has 20 years experience in the games and online entertainment industry, and now heads up FlowPlay, a developer of browser-based virtual world technology and games. Previously, Derrick was the General Manager of Mobile Games at RealNetworks, where he negotiated long-term distribution agreements with Cingular, Verizon, Virgin, Vodafone and others, and secured the mobile rights to South Park, MTV Cribs, and The Apprentice.
