PerspecSys Announces Upgrades to Award-Winning Cloud Data Protection Gateway & New Partner Certification Program

Company Delivers Enhanced Cryptography and Key Management Capabilities with Support for Multiple Third Party System Environments

TORONTO & MCLEAN, Va.--()--As the cloud data security market continues to grow, the need for standards-based, peer-reviewed, interoperable solutions is becoming critical. PerspecSys Inc., the leader in cloud data protection solutions for the enterprise, today announced it has increased capabilities for its Cloud Data Protection Gateway in areas including key management and cryptography, and is creating a new PerspecSys Certified Partner Program for its technology partners. Both initiatives are designed to extend the company’s leadership in standards-based security solutions, improve interoperability for customers and further contribute to the industry’s growing security ecosystem.

PerspecSys’ enhanced Gateway capabilities focus on easing deployment and ongoing operation of its solution with other security components being deployed in the enterprise, including popular encryption and key management systems. Specifics include:

  • Native support for Key Management Interoperability Protocol (KMIP) – embedded support for the KMIP standard utilized by a wide range of specific and standards-based HSM (hardware security managers) and EKM (enterprise key management) security solution providers.
  • Standards-based key management lifecycle operations, based on the NIST 800-57 specification – capabilities allowing authorized Key Managers to configure key groups for encryption policy preparation, permitting manual control for key revocations and definition of crypto period lengths.
  • Robust security for key management and key material – customers can configure the use of HSM or EKM solutions that meet the KMIP specification and, with PerspecSys’ own key store, all material is stored in a message-level encrypted database, providing better security and back-up/ failover solutions.
  • Increased operational and audit reporting for key management – from an easy-to-use dashboard, customers can manage operations, transactions and management changes for key groups, assets, and policies.

In addition, PerspecSys will be rolling out its new Certified Partner Program to help “build in” interoperability and ensure that customers benefit from a seamless experience when using security solutions from multiple preferred providers. For years, PerspecSys has been working with industry leaders like Voltage Security, SafeNet, Ping Identity, and McAfee to ensure interoperability, but this new certification program will help formalize the process and open it to more potential partners around the globe. By becoming a PerspecSys certified partner, third-party vendors will get access to information and resources including documentation, technical support, and testing to ensure their solutions work seamlessly with the PerspecSys Gateway. “Interoperability is vital to moving not only our business, but the industry at large forward,” said David Canellos, CEO of PerspecSys. “For enterprises to embrace new technology they must be assured it will be backward compatible with what they already have in place, and future-proof for what’s coming. Our solution delivers both. And while some competitors take short-cuts that compromise security strength and interoperability, we have embraced the broader security vendor ecosystem and architected our Gateway and Certification Program around it – to ensure our customers get the most from their investments.”

PerspecSys’ open approach allows enterprises to use their security team’s preferred encryption modules inside of its Cloud Data Protection Gateway – all while preserving end user cloud functionality. This unique capability enables enterprises to use cryptography that adheres to the highest levels of industry standards, most notably those created by NIST (National Institute of Standards and Technology), such as the Federal Information Processing Standard (FIPS) 140-2, which are pervasive in government agencies and many other industries because of their strong security proof points. Adherence to these standards is mandatory for companies seeking to work with government departments (and other regulated industries such as financial and health-care institutions) that collect, store, transfer, share and disseminate sensitive but unclassified (SBU) information, and PerspecSys is the only provider in its space that can provide a solution with FIPS 140-2 encryption that maintains cloud application usability.

PerspecSys’ Gateway supports organizations and enterprises in sectors like Manufacturing and Healthcare, which need to comply with government regulations specifying that strong, well vetted encryption and tokenization techniques be used to secure sensitive information. The PerspecSys Gateway was architected to give those enterprises the flexibility they need to select the security techniques that meet their specific requirements. By letting them take full advantage of cloud SaaS applications such as Salesforce.com and Oracle CRM while ensuring their sensitive data remains on-premise, under their control and in compliance with data protection regulations at all times, PerspecSys eliminates the barriers that previously prevented cloud adoption. PerspecSys was the first and remains the only company to combine all these elements effectively for its customers.
