Photobucket Hires Michael Clark as Chief Information Officer

Former Photobucket executive returns to lead operations at world’s leading dedicated photo and video sharing service

DENVER--()--Photobucket Corporation today announced that Michael Clark has joined the company as chief information officer. As CIO, Clark is responsible for the operations team, customer support and safety, and continuing to scale the company’s infrastructure.

Clark has more than 15 years of direct experience building scalable systems. Previously, he was the first executive hire and architect on the original Photobucket team, where he was senior vice president of technology. Clark worked to develop Photobucket’s initial safety and security infrastructure, which helped the company become a thought leader in building security initiatives focused on protecting consumers. Clark leveraged this expertise to co-found SafetyWeb, the cloud-based safety and security product. In this role, he gained significant experience in understanding what kids were doing online, and how they were using their mobile devices. He used this knowledge to build tools to help parents better protect their children across these powerful mediums.

“We are thrilled to welcome Michael back to our leadership team at Photobucket, as he is a true industry visionary,” said Tom Munro, CEO of Photobucket. “His vast experience in mobile and Internet security, coupled with his operations, networks and system architecture expertise, will help us continue to drive forward on our path of innovation. Michael is reengaging with Photobucket as we experience increased momentum due to the recent user experience enhancements we’ve made, and we look forward to scaling our business accordingly with his strategic guidance.”

Among his management responsibilities for infrastructure and operations, Clark will also help Photobucket continue to anticipate and adapt its technology to support the growing needs of today’s photo and video enthusiasts. With Clark’s long history in this young market comes a knowledge that will help empower the company to support future generations of story tellers to share the stories of their lives in a more rich and complete manner.

“It feels great to be back in my old stomping grounds, and I’ve been particularly impressed with the new look, feel and direction of Photobucket, which will continue to translate into massive growth for the company,” said Clark. “There’s a true culture of innovation here, and I’m excited to help scale the infrastructure to support the demand for all of the new – and upcoming – Photobucket offerings that will extend our market leadership even further.”
