CSC’s POINT IN Insurance Administration Software Now Available on Microsoft Platform

Two Property & Casualty Insurers Currently Implementing for Windows

FALLS CHURCH, Va.--()--CSC (NYSE: CSC) today announced the availability of the Java version of POINT IN, with enhanced configuration tools, for North American-based property and casualty (P&C) insurers seeking a modern, full-featured, platform-flexible policy administration system. With the general availability of this version of POINT IN, which supports end-to-end processing for all lines of insurance coverage, the company is providing more choice to clients by offering a new option that runs on the Microsoft Windows platform with a SQL Server database, in addition to the currently supported IBM and Oracle/Sun Microsystems platforms.

Two multinational firms are currently implementing the Java version of POINT IN for Windows for improved productivity and increased speed to market. The new release includes enhanced configuration tools that allow carriers to easily create their own rules or use one of the hundreds pre-built into the system. With improved graphical interfaces, these tools significantly streamline and accelerate the introduction of new products and lines of business, as well as entry into additional states.

“Microsoft platforms have been growing in popularity among tier-two carriers for some time now, where POINT IN has a large following,” said Chad Hersh, a partner in the insurance practice of Novarica, a research and advisory firm. “Platform choice puts the control in the hands of the carriers to select the platform that best fits their current needs on a variety of fronts, while the availability of POINT IN on all three major database options and multiple operating systems on a Java codebase continues to move the solution forward.”

“With the broadest portfolio of software for the P&C insurance industry and the largest client base, we continue to position our solutions for long-term value by offering the marketplace a range of options that support the entire enterprise,” said Jeffery Schwalk, president of CSC’s Property and Casualty Insurance Division. “With POINT IN now available on the Microsoft platform, CSC continues to deliver modern, flexible and highly configurable solutions to ensure clients can respond to changing market conditions quickly and position themselves for continued growth.”

“We are seeing a growing demand from insurance carriers for modern, more agile and configurable policy administration systems,” said Karen T. Cone, general manager, Worldwide Financial Services, Microsoft Corporation. “CSC’s delivery of POINT IN on Microsoft technology provides carriers with a new compelling option.”
