Sarah McLachlan Back on the Road at Last, as AFTERGLOW Album Passes 2 Million Mark

NEW YORK--()--Jan. 29, 2004--

First North American Tour Dates in Five Years Announced, Opening July 5th in Seattle, Through September 10th in Vancouver; "Stupid" is New Single, Video Directed by Sophie Muller - Follow-up to "Fallen"

As her current album AFTERGLOW passes the double platinum plateau, and its first single "Fallen" stays in the top 5 at Adult Radio, Arista recording artist Sarah McLachlan is announcing her first major series of North American tour dates in five years. The summer tour will kick off over Independence Day weekend, on Monday, July 5th, at the Key Arena in Seattle, and will wrap up at GM Place in Sarah's hometown of Vancouver on Friday, September 10th. (Please see complete itinerary attached.)

In 12 weeks on the Billboard 200 Albums chart, AFTERGLOW - Sarah's first studio album in six years - has spent all but one week inside the top 15. The album entered the chart at #2 with the biggest one-week sales of her career, bearing out the New York Times' assertion that she "still has a place in a music world in which showboating R&B divas and studio-created pop princesses reign." The album is holding strong inside the top 10 on Soundscan's Alternative Core Stores and Internet charts; and inside the top 5 on the Current Alternative, Current Electronic Albums, and Electronic Albums Core charts. "Fallen" has peaked at #12 after 17 weeks on the Adult Contemporary Singles chart.

"Stupid," the second single from AFTERGLOW, is set to ship to radio on Monday, February 2nd. The video is on schedule to be shot next week in Los Angeles with director Sophie Muller (for Oil Company Productions), known for her videos with Annie Lennox, Eurythmics, Blur, No Doubt, Coldplay, and many others, including several live version clips with Sarah: "I Will Remember You," "Ice Cream," and "Possession."

Sarah McLachlan's return was heralded with an intensive round of television exposure during November-December, including appearances on NBC's The Tonight Show with Jay Leno and The Ellen DeGeneres Show, CBS's The Late Late Show with Craig Kilborn, the syndicated Martha Stewart Living, ABC's The Wayne Brady Show and The View, Lifetime's Intimate Portrait, and A&E's Breakfast With the Arts. Since then, Sarah has been featured prominently on major lifestyle websites across the Internet, ranging from Rollingstone.com, Click2Music, Women.com, TheNightOwl.com, and PureSongwriters.com, to huge campaigns on Gay.com and PlanetOut.com (which will gain over 2.2 million impressions), AmericanBaby.com, and HealthyKids.com, focusing on Sarah's new role as mom to baby India.
