MetLife Investment Management Originates $26 Billion in Private Fixed Income Transactions in 2025
WHIPPANY, N.J.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--MetLife Investment Management (MIM), the institutional asset management business of MetLife, Inc. (NYSE: MET), today announced that it originated approximately $26 billion in private fixed income transactions for clients in 2025, increasing total assets under management on MIM’s private fixed income platform to $144.7 billion as of December 31, 2025.1
MIM’s private fixed income platform comprises private corporate and infrastructure debt, private asset-based finance (ABF), residential whole loans, single family rental financing, and sustainable and transition finance. Reflecting the breadth and reach of MIM’s platform, origination is well diversified with:
- $8.9 billion in residential credit;
- $6.8 billion in corporate debt;
- $5.7 billion in infrastructure debt; and
- $4.5 billion in asset-based finance transactions.
Highlights include:
- MIM found strong value in residential credit in 2025, deploying $8.9 billion and reinforcing its leadership in origination and portfolio management of residential loans and single-family rental debt.
- Corporate private placement activity totaled $6.8 billion across a broad range of industries. More than 40% of investments were sourced through proprietary channels, underscoring the team’s ability to originate transactions across both the broadly syndicated market and direct, relationship‑driven channel.
- Originated $5.7 billion in infrastructure transactions, diversified across sectors, including renewables and digital as well as core infrastructure assets such as transportation and essential utilities. More than half of these investments were made internationally, reflecting the breadth of the platform’s cross‑border reach.
- Achieved strong growth in private asset-based finance, originating $4.5 billion across commercial and consumer assets. The focus on club and bilateral origination channels continued to enable MIM to secure favorable credit terms, healthy allocations, and attractive relative value.
“As a leading originator in the rapidly expanding world of private fixed income, MIM’s rigorous credit underwriting and disciplined structuring approach enables us to consistently generate high-quality private assets with appealing relative value,” said Geert Henckens, global head of Private Fixed Income at MIM. “We aim to invest private capital in sectors and regions where the demand for patient capital is high and seek investment opportunities that fit our clients’ risk profile and goals.”
MIM is a top-25 global institutional investment manager by assets under management.2 It is the market leader in managing private fixed income assets for third-party insurance general accounts3 and ranks as the largest infrastructure debt investment manager worldwide based on assets under management.4
In December 2025, MIM acquired PineBridge Investments (PineBridge), combining MIM’s institutional strength and scale with PineBridge’s global footprint and specialized investment capabilities. This transaction positions MIM as a top-tier, diversified global asset manager. The combined firm manages $741.7 billion in total assets under management5 and delivers comprehensive global expertise across public fixed income, private fixed income, real estate, equity, alternatives, multi-asset and insurance solutions for clients worldwide.
