Alight Launches Leave Planner™ to Redefine How Employees Plan and Manage Leaves of Absence

This new feature within Alight Worklife® simplifies a historically complex process, giving employees clear, accurate leave information when it matters most, and helping employers reduce complexity, while improving the overall leave experience for their people, ultimately enabling better outcomes for our clients and a more seamless employee experience.

CHICAGO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Alight, Inc. (NYSE: ALIT), a leading benefits administration provider of health, wealth, leave and point solutions, today announced the release of the Alight Leave Planner™ within Alight Worklife®. The new feature simplifies leave planning by providing employees with accurate eligibility, pay and job protection information in a guided and intuitive experience.

“The Alight Leave Planner transforms leave administration, historically a highly regulated and complicated process, into a simpler, more familiar experience,” said Kevin Curry, Senior Vice President, Leader Leaves Solutions at Alight. “When employees are preparing for a leave, they need accurate information delivered at the right moment. With Leave Planner, employees can access the information they need in a clear, centralized view, strengthening trust with their employer during what may be a demanding time in their lives.”

Alight’s 2025 Employee Mindset Study found that 42% of employees have taken a leave of absence in the last two years, citing reasons ranging from caregiving responsibilities to bereavement. Leave Planner supports employees from planning a leave of absence through leave request submission, addressing the critical need for clarity, efficiency and ease during what is often a complex process. At the same time, it enables HR teams to focus more on employee support by expediting compliance requirements and manual processes. By simplifying and streamlining this experience, Alight helps drive better outcomes and improved employee experiences for both employees and employer.

Core features include:

  • Real-time leave visibility: Employees can view prior leave history and current balances in one place, enable planning based on up‑to‑date, accurate information — not estimates or assumptions.
  • Data-driven eligibility information: Leave Planner uses employer and local policy data to guide eligibility, automating key steps and reducing the risk of incorrect or incomplete information during the leaves planning process.
  • A single, connected experience: Employees can review options and submit a leave request without re-entering information, streamlining the process from planning to intake.
  • Integrated paid time planning: The tool incorporates paid time off (PTO), vacation, and sick time into the leave planning process, helping employees understand how time‑off options work together to support income continuity.
  • Comprehensive leave scenario support: Employees can plan for a wide range of leave scenarios within one experience, rather than navigating separate tools or processes.

Leave Planner is generally available in Alight Worklife for customers in the U.S. and is included as part of Alight’s leave outsourcing services. By delivering leave planning as an integrated capability, Alight helps employers provide employees with a more consistent, informed experience, while reducing complexity throughout the leave lifecycle.

Alight Leave Planner also serves as the foundation for Alight Leave Planner with Benefits, an upcoming enhancement that further advances the leave planning and initiation experience. This future capability will incorporate benefits impacts and recommended actions directly into the planning process, powered by AI-driven intelligence to help employees better understand how leave decisions connect to their broader benefits.
