Founded in Boston, Life Science Cares is a collective effort of the life sciences industry to address poverty by investing in nonprofit organizations and mobilizing employees to act. Over the past decade, the Boston chapter has invested more than $13.8 million and contributed nearly 40,000 volunteer hours demonstrating what’s possible when an entire industry comes together in support of its community.

The Impact Breakfast marks the beginning of the organization’s “10 Years and Counting” milestone year, an opportunity not only to reflect on what the life sciences community has built together, but to accelerate its collective impact in the years ahead.

“Ten years ago, we started in Boston with a belief that this industry could come together to do more for our communities,” said Rob Perez, Founder of Life Science Cares. “What we’ve seen since then is what’s possible when companies and their employees take that responsibility seriously. And right now, when the need is growing, that collective action matters more than ever.”

The program will highlight the unique role the life sciences sector plays in strengthening the region’s nonprofit ecosystem bringing together CEOs, emerging leaders, and employees across companies, alongside nonprofit partners working on the front lines of poverty.

At a time when many nonprofits are facing increased demand and fewer resources, Life Science Cares is calling on companies across the life sciences industry to further engage their teams empowering employees at every level to contribute, volunteer, and help expand the impact of the sector’s collective efforts.

“We’ve always believed that the strength of this work comes from the people behind it across companies, across roles, and across our community,” said Rosie Cunningham, Executive Director of Life Science Cares Boston. “This is a moment for the life sciences industry to come together, step forward, and do even more.”

“Over the past 10 years, Life Science Cares has shown what’s possible when the life sciences community comes together around a shared purpose. It connects the expertise of our industry with nonprofit partners doing high-impact work on the ground. That model, rooted in trust, strong community partnerships, and a focus on measurable outcomes, is closely aligned with how we at Takeda think about making a meaningful difference. It’s why our collective support matters now more than ever,” said Chris Barr, Head of US CSR & Philanthropy at Takeda.

As Life Science Cares Boston looks toward its 10-year anniversary this November, the organization is focused on building momentum inviting more companies and individuals across the life sciences community to take part in shaping the next decade of impact.
