Tri Pointe Homes Marks 20,000th Washington Home Sale, Celebrating Over Five Decades of Puget Sound Homebuilding

Milestone sale in Newcastle reflects a continuous presence, from Quadrant Homes in 1969 to Tri Pointe Homes today

BELLEVUE, Wash.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Tri Pointe Homes® has sold its 20,000th home in Washington State, marking an achievement in a Pacific Northwest homebuilding legacy that began in 1969 and spans the company’s Quadrant Homes® era under Weyerhaeuser. The milestone sale took place at Alterra in Newcastle, Wash., with returning Tri Pointe customers who previously purchased a home in the company’s Aldea community in 2020. Their purchase offers a current-day example of the longstanding relationships that have helped define the company’s presence in the Puget Sound area.

The builder’s 57 years of experience in the region includes over four decades as Quadrant Homes, a respected name in regional homebuilding. Over the decades, it went on to shape large-scale communities including Redmond Ridge, Snoqualmie Ridge, and Northwest Landing as the region evolved from an aerospace center into a technology hub.

“Reaching our 20,000th home in Washington is a meaningful milestone because it reflects decades of trusted relationships with buyers, trade partners, and communities across the Puget Sound region,” said Ken Krivanec, division president for Tri Pointe Homes Washington and Utah. “While the market has changed dramatically over the years, our focus has been consistent: understanding what local buyers want and designing homes for how they live.”

Robert and Olivia purchased Tri Pointe Washington’s 20,000th home at its Alterra community. The couple previously bought a Tri Pointe home in Newcastle in 2020 and said they were drawn to the Alterra home’s unique floorplan with indoor private courtyard and detached casita, a dedicated work-from-home office, and outdoor spaces for grilling and backyard movie nights. The couple closed on the home on Tuesday, March 24, also the due date for their first child.

“Tri Pointe has been part of our lives for six years, from the first home we bought together to this one,” said the couple. “We couldn't imagine a better place to bring our baby home to, and we love that our family is part of this milestone, too.”

The two also noted the exceptional customer service provided by Tri Pointe New Home Advisor Jennifer Lopez and the rest of the team for both their first and second Tri Pointe homes, appreciating the team's efforts to keep them informed on the progress of the homes’ construction.

“We’ve always been impressed by the quality of construction in our Tri Pointe homes and would recommend [the company] to anyone looking to buy a new construction home,” said Robert and Olivia.

Tri Pointe has innovated and evolved over five decades, staying laser-focused on what Puget Sound buyers want.

  • Founded in 1969 and acquired by timber giant Weyerhaeuser, Quadrant survived the "Boeing recession” by pivoting from lot development to a homebuilding-led model and kept evolving and building as the region reshaped from aerospace to tech.
  • In 2000, Quadrant opened the PNW’s first large-format “New Home Showroom” with 10,000 options, then a state-of-the-art Design Studio in 2013 (with an expansion in 2016) to let buyers “co-create” homes—decades before today’s personalization buzz.
  • After the 2008 housing market crash, while many builders pulled back, Quadrant leaned in. Its research with Seattle buyers revealed a clear gap in design and service in the premium space. Quadrant took advantage of that opportunity to diversify its business model, evolving into the premium builder Tri Pointe Homes Washington is today.

Quadrant became part of a major national homebuilding platform following Tri Pointe’s $2.8 billion acquisition of Weyerhaeuser Real Estate Company in July 2014. The deal added five regional builders, including Quadrant, to Tri Pointe’s portfolio and led to the formation of TRI Pointe Group®. As part of the TRI Pointe family, Quadrant retained its deep connection to the Pacific Northwest lifestyle and communities while gaining the resources, scale, and expertise of a national organization. Over time, this evolution led to the unification of regional brands under the Tri Pointe Homes name, with Quadrant ultimately becoming Tri Pointe Homes Washington as part of a nationwide network of divisions delivering premium living by design with the benefit of deep local expertise.

Rooted in Seattle's Eastside corridor since its founding, Tri Pointe Homes Washington has long been a steward of the community. The company is a longtime supporter of the Mountains to Sound Greenway National Heritage Area, and is currently building communities in Redmond, Snoqualmie, Newcastle, Bothell, and North Bend, including Built Green certified homes at Willows 124 in Redmond. The 20,000th sale marks both a celebration of that legacy and a signal of what's ahead, as Tri Pointe continues to innovate, evolve with customer needs, and help shape the next generation of Pacific Northwest living.
