Citrix and Google Extend Secure Browser Access to Unmanaged Devices

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Citrix, a Cloud Software Group company, today announced new browser‑native security capabilities developed in partnership with Google to help organizations securely enable access from unmanaged and third‑party devices. The latest enhancements extend Citrix Secure Access™ with Chrome Enterprise, delivering stronger protection against data loss and malware risks without requiring endpoint agents, device control, or changes to how users work.

As browser‑based work has become the dominant access model, organizations are increasingly challenged to support contractors, partners, and other users on devices they do not own or manage. Traditional approaches — such as issuing heavily secured corporate devices or publishing browsers through virtual desktops — often introduce unnecessary cost, complexity, and friction for web‑based work. Citrix and Chrome Enterprise are addressing this challenge by integrating zero trust security directly within the browser session.

“Security teams shouldn’t have to choose between protecting data and enabling flexible work,” said Citrix Co-President Sridhar Mullapudi. “By applying zero trust controls directly in the browser, we’re helping organizations secure unmanaged access in a way that scales, reduces risk, and fits how people actually work today.”

Data loss controls for unmanaged devices

The latest capabilities introduce new protections designed specifically for browser‑based access on unmanaged endpoints, including encrypted browser cache to help protect corporate data stored locally during secure sessions. Additional protections include anti‑keylogging capabilities to reduce exposure to malicious software that may exist on unmanaged devices. By taking an application-centric approach, organizations can enable secure web app access, without needing cumbersome and expensive device-based security controls that enterprises are forced into using every day.

Secure redirection for downloaded corporate files

To help organizations maintain governance over downloaded data without disrupting user workflows, secure document redirection to enterprise content repositories — starting with Google Drive — is now available within the Chrome-based secure access experience. With this capability, files downloaded from corporate applications can be automatically redirected to approved, company‑managed storage locations.

“Work today happens in the browser, and our collaboration ensures it stays secure without the overhead of traditional virtualization. Over the past year, we’ve focused on building a simplified approach to secure enterprise browsing that organizations can operationalize at scale,” said Mike Torres, vice president of product management for Chrome. “Strengthening protections for unmanaged devices allows Citrix customers to leverage Chrome Enterprise as a hardened, native endpoint. It’s a significant step in our roadmap to simplify secure access while maintaining the world-class usability users expect.”

Availability

The new unmanaged device protections within Citrix Secure Access with Chrome Enterprise are expected to be generally available by early April 2026.
