Through philanthropic investment from the Foundation and collaboration with Simply Healthcare Plans, Camillus House expanded its Institute of Success and Personal Achievement (ISPA) Residential Treatment Program. The initiative addresses a critical gap in care: recovery after hospital discharge for individuals without stable housing.

The ISPA program combines medical recovery, mental health and substance use treatment, housing support, and employment services in one setting. This coordinated approach provides individuals with the time and structure needed to stabilize their health and move toward long-term independence.

“At Simply Healthcare Plans, we see firsthand how unstable housing affects health outcomes,” said Dana Gryniuk, Medicaid Plan President of Simply Healthcare Plans. “The Simply Healthcare Foundation’s investment in Camillus House strengthens access to treatment and recovery support for people experiencing homelessness. This partnership reflects our shared commitment to improving individual outcomes while supporting responsible use of Florida health care resources, including reducing avoidable emergency room visits and hospital readmissions to help lower overall healthcare costs.”

As a result of the Foundation’s multi-year investment, the program has delivered:

  • Extended Recovery Support: The ISPA program has been able to maintain completion rates of approximately 75 percent among program participants.
  • Stable Housing Outcomes: Nearly 40 percent of participants placed in permanent housing through these multidisciplinary treatment teams remain stably housed.
  • Economic Progress: Graduates achieve strong job placement outcomes, and many secure employment or disability benefits that support long-term financial stability.
  • Reduced Crisis Care Use: By providing a stable environment for recovery, the program has reduced avoidable, often costly, emergency room visits and hospital readmissions.

Participants have also reunited with family members and strengthened personal support networks, important steps toward sustained independence.

“The Simply Healthcare Foundation has been a true partner in this work,” said Eddie Gloria, CEO of Camillus House. “Their sustained support has allowed us to provide consistent, coordinated care for individuals with complex medical and behavioral health needs. These outcomes show what that level of investment in housing, treatment, and recovery support can achieve for people experiencing homelessness.”
