Cognite and NVIDIA Operationalize NV-Tesseract with Aker BP to Transform Industrial Anomaly Detection and Safeguard Critical Assets

Strategic integration combines Cognite’s Industrial Knowledge Graph and AI agents with NVIDIA’s time-series AI model to drive proactive troubleshooting and operational safety

HOUSTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Cognite, the global leader in Industrial AI, today announced the integration of NVIDIA’s NV-Tesseract family of models into the Cognite AI and Data Platform, to operationalize foundational anomaly detection models for heavy industry. This integration pairs the context-rich data in Cognite’s platform with NVIDIA’s advanced time-series AI to unlock new ways of operating. By predicting equipment failures with greater precision, customers can more confidently shift reactive maintenance into a proactive model that stops issues before they escalate.

Unlocking the full potential of industrial AI requires more than just powerful models; it requires data that understands the physical world. This integration bridges that gap by connecting the Industrial Knowledge Graph within Cognite Data Fusion®—the platform's core data foundation that contextualizes complex operations—to NVIDIA’s NV-Tesseract models packaged as NVIDIA NIM microservices. Furthermore, the solution transcends simple alerts by leveraging Cognite Atlas AI—the platform’s low-code industrial agent workbench—to troubleshoot detections.

Aker BP, a leading independent oil and gas exploration and production company, has launched a program to deploy an AI-driven anomaly detection solution that transforms data into action. Using specialized AI agents to bridge the gap between model outputs and work orders, the system integrates predictive insights directly into daily maintenance routines. Currently, Aker BP collects approximately one million time series, yet monitoring covers only a small percentage, leaving potential issues unnoticed until they become serious. When problems do occur, engineers are often limited to manual troubleshooting using basic time-series tools. By feeding unified, AI-ready data from Cognite into NVIDIA’s NV-Tesseract model, Aker BP aims to automate the early detection of anomalies across diverse equipment types, such as wells and heat exchangers.

"For too long, anomaly detection in our industry has been all signal and no insight. We're changing that. Our goal isn't smarter alarms — it's engineers who never waste time chasing false leads,” said Paula Doyle, Chief Digital Officer at Aker BP. "With what we're building alongside Cognite and NVIDIA, an AI agent can detect an anomaly, pull together the relevant engineering drawings and maintenance history, and present a path forward — all before a human even picks up the phone. That's not incremental improvement — that's a new way of operating."

“NVIDIA NV-Tesseract NIM delivers state-of-the-art anomaly detection and foundational time-series capabilities, but these models require high-fidelity data to be effective in complex physical environments,” said Marc Spieler, Senior Managing Director of Global Energy Industry at NVIDIA. “Cognite’s Industrial Knowledge Graph provides the necessary context and domain expertise to ground the models and ensures that our advanced anomaly detection drives tangible value on the plant floor.”

“The synergy between the Cognite AI and Data Platform and NVIDIA’s NV-Tesseract models creates a ‘system of intelligence’ that doesn't just look back, but accurately predicts the future in near real-time,” said Chirayu Shah, Chief Product Officer at Cognite. “Our work with Aker BP demonstrates that when you feed the right model with high-quality, contextualized industrial data, you can solve specific, high-value problems.”

Cognite will be demonstrating the NV-Tesseract NIM integration at CERAWeek, taking place this week in Houston, Texas. Learn more here: cognite.com/en/partners/nvidia.
