Verily Me Adds New Features, Offering a Safe and Private Space to Check Symptoms and Make Sense of Health

Announced at SXSW 2026, the app is now officially available for U.S. consumers, with personalized health recommendation refreshes from licensed clinicians, AI-guided symptom navigation, and deeper nutrition insight

DALLAS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Verily, a precision health AI company, today announced new features and the general availability of its consumer health app, Verily Me, following a successful beta phase.

Verily Me is designed to close gaps in care by enabling access to personalized health recommendations from licensed providers based on individual medical history across clinicians and health systems. In addition, “Violet,” the AI companion available via Verily Me, provides 24/7 assistance to help users interpret their health data and make sense of their health.

The new features available through the app will enable more personalized and context-aware support:

  • Symptom Assessment with Context (beta): Violet can engage in a multi-turn conversation to answer symptom questions in a guided interaction, considering a user’s available medical history to provide self-care recommendations, and give advice on when to see a healthcare professional.
  • Care Recommendation Refresh: Verily Me users can periodically request a free provider-led review of their latest available health records to receive updated preventive screening recommendations.
  • Enhanced Meal Logging: When users snap a photo of their meal they will now receive detailed macronutrient estimates and nutritional insights, helping them manage their diet in real-time.

“The general availability of Verily Me, coupled with these powerful new features, marks a critical step toward a future where everyone can access truly personalized health guidance,” said Myoung Cha, Chief Product Officer at Verily. “We are committed to building a secure, private environment where personal health data serves the user, empowering them to take control of their well-being.”

Setting a New Standard for AI in Health
The new symptom assessment feature, now offered as a beta capability in Violet and accessed via the Verily Me app, offers an alternative approach to general-purpose large language models (LLMs). Violet is a system built on deep healthcare expertise, designed to operate with the rigor and judgment of an experienced care team using guided interactions to actively investigate symptoms within the full context of a user’s available medical history.

Unlike general AI tools that passively accept incomplete user information, Violet was designed to follow a structured intake process, asking targeted follow-up questions to uncover medically relevant details while analyzing an individual’s available health records. This approach is powered by a proprietary architecture that runs multiple safety checks to provide high-quality guidance.

“Millions of consumers are turning to AI for medical questions, but generalist tools often lack the critical context needed to provide accurate advice,” said Vindell Washington, MD, MS, Chief Clinical Officer at Verily. “Verily Me changes that. Our tailored approach is designed to gather the relevant details and explain why a suggestion is being made, ensuring all outputs are built on a foundation informed by clinical expertise.”
