Comcast Also Awards $17,500 in Grants to South Bend Education Alliance and South Bend Code School

SOUTH BEND, Ind.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Comcast today announced the opening of a new Xfinity Store in South Bend, Indiana, at 4615 Miami Street near the Erskine Village Shopping Center. The company marked the grand opening on February 19 with a ribbon-cutting ceremony joined by South Bend Mayor James Mueller, the South Bend Regional Chamber of Commerce, and a host of city officials and community organizations.

The new Xfinity storefront in South Bend features an interactive design that allows visitors to experience the complete line of Xfinity residential products and services or discuss their business technology needs with a Comcast Business expert.

“We’re pleased to welcome an Xfinity Store to South Bend, which will bring everyday services closer to our residents and businesses,” said South Bend Mayor James Mueller. “We appreciate Comcast’s investment in our city’s future and their ongoing commitment to advancing digital opportunity.”

The new store deepens Xfinity’s retail presence in Michiana, joining nearby Xfinity store locations in Granger (7115 Heritage Square Dr., Granger, IN 46530) and Elkhart (199 County Rd 6 W., Elkhart, IN 46514).

“Our new Xfinity Store enhances how we serve South Bend by providing convenient access to our products and services through a dedicated local team,” said Chris Smith, Comcast’s Greater Chicago Region Senior Vice President. “We’re also excited to deepen our community investment through grants to the South Bend Education Alliance and South Bend Code School, whose work empowers students with essential digital skills.”

New Store Part of Continued Investment in South Bend

At the ribbon-cutting ceremony, Comcast also announced a pair of community grants, awarding $17,500 in total to the South Bend Education Alliance and the South Bend Code School. Comcast’s contribution to the South Bend Code School will support its digital education programs to help residents build valuable digital skills, while its grant to the South Bend Education Alliance will provide resources to South Bend public schools.

“This grant allows us to reach more students and deepen our hands‑on coding and technology programs,” said Emily Sims, Director of Partnerships & Development at the South Bend Code School. “We’re grateful for Comcast’s commitment to closing the digital divide and supporting computer science for youth, adults, and educators in South Bend.”

Over the past three years, Comcast has made a total of more than $3 million in cash and in-kind contributions to Indiana nonprofits through Project UP, Comcast's $1 billion initiative to connect people to the internet, create digital opportunity, and build a future of unlimited possibilities.

“Thank you to Comcast for its contribution to South Bend public education,” said Kris Arizmendi Choinacky, CEO of the South Bend Education Alliance. “This support provides resources to critical initiatives that benefit the students, educators, and administrators in our community.”
