OIC Announces Several Key Promotions

These promotions reflect OIC’s continued growth as a multi-strategy infrastructure investment firm and its commitment to developing high-performing talent from within. Senior Leadership Promotions

Gerrit Nicholas has been promoted to Executive Chairman and will continue his role as Founding Partner of OIC together with Nazar Massouh. With this promotion, Gerrit will focus even more of his time on OIC’s deal making to shape the firm’s strategic direction, culture, and long-term vision as a premier investment firm while representing OIC externally to elevate the firm’s brand and deepen its relationships to help drive origination and deal flow across the platform.

Rui Viana has been promoted to Chief Investment Officer, while continuing as Investment Partner and Head of Investment Strategists of the firm. Rui will oversee the firm’s investment decision-making and capital deployment across OIC’s investment strategies. Rui previously served as OIC’s Chief Risk and Strategy Officer.

Mark Friedland is promoted to focus on his role as Chief Compliance Officer and Partner, maintaining oversight of OIC’s compliance and regulatory programs and serving as Chair of the Valuation Committee. Mark will also continue to play a key leadership role on legal and regulatory work related to fundraising as well as select new and existing investments.

Zhao Yang, Managing Director, was promoted to General Counsel. Zhao’s responsibilities will expand to lead OIC’s Center for Legal Excellence (CLE) across all strategies and investment teams, advising the firm across transactions, fund matters, and portfolio company activity. Under Zhao’s leadership, CLE will continue to play an important role across OIC to maintain and advance the firm’s vision to be a premier multi-strategy investment firm.

Jonathan Magaziner was promoted to Managing Director on the Structured Equity team. Jonathan has been instrumental in originating, structuring, and executing complex investments and will continue to play a leadership role within the strategy.

Grace van Bark was promoted to Managing Director on the OIC Credit team, recognizing her investment expertise, origination capabilities, leadership, and consistent execution.

Andrew (Drew) Karian was promoted to Growth Strategy CIO, in addition to his role as Managing Director and Investment Principal, recognizing his investment experience, origination capabilities, and his role in building the OIC’s Growth strategy.

Senior Vice President Promotions

The following individuals were promoted to Senior Vice President, reflecting expanded leadership responsibilities and sustained performance:

  • Ollie Scudamore – IDEA (Investor Development, Engagement and Accountability)
  • Valeri Vinogradov – Technology
  • Kaitlyn Zapalac – Finance

Vice President Promotions

  • Lindsay Maddox – Finance
  • John Kim – CLE (legal)
  • Matthew Levy – Growth
  • Nabil Sarbaoui – Credit

In addition, Hugh Whitney has been promoted to Senior Associate on the Structured Equity team.
